Hey 80AYYY a great starting point to creating your own blog/electronic portfolio

The computer is a great startup point but adding the blogger app to your device will make uploading and developing your blog fast and easy.

Watch the video and lets begin construction of your blog that you will use for English class as a portfolio.

As you get more comfortable the blog will become more in-depth with a wider variety of work to share.

Post a link to your blog in this thread and explain briefly about your experience and expectations about your blog.

What you want to include in the creation of your first blog:
Type up and upload one of your favourite journal responses
upload a picture of one of your sketches from art class and include a brief summary of the task
upload a favourite photo from one of your photo assignments/poetry included and a brief explanation of the task

1. Are you surprised that Rob stood up to his father?  Can you relate to this moment personally when you were finally able to face your fears?

2. Is Dan the Man the type of person you would hang around with at BHJMS? describe why or why you wouldn't hang out with a guy like Dan.  Create an example to highlight your position 

3.  We have finally seen Sarah show signs of cracking as she wonders why her mom cant seem to help her now and make her feel safe.  She has seemed so confident and sure of herself until now.  Can you relate to this moment in any aspects? The idea of appearing confident and sure of yourself all the while you are cracking on the inside.  The outer shell hides the inner feelings.

This is a web site for a Grade 8 class at Donview MS.  I asked and have initiated a poetry sharing sessions.  They have posted their poems for us to read and respond with meaningful and relevant comments.  So lets visit the site, read, appreciate and respond.

Things to discuss…how it stirred your senses, emotions that were tugged at, rich and powerful vocabulary 

We will organize and post our poems so that they can do the same at a later time. 

This will be a break chance to possible build and interact on a greater level with peers not bound by the geography of our school.  make the best of this and hopefully it blossoms into something more meaningful.

Check out this link on making speeches! 

It's time to focus on the body of your speech! Let's work in 3s and consider having 3 key pieces of info you want to share to support your position and convince others. One should be fact and statistics based, another an anecdotal or personal story, the other a hybrid connection to another source of text. 

Each section should be constructed in a similar fashion to how you designed your opening paragraph. I unique opening, clear information, and finish by linking it back to your main point. 

To begin; 

1. List the 3 sources of critial evidence you will use and build with 

2. Begin constructing the three sections (paragraphs) 

3. Read and record and listen ... What do you think!

Speech Competition: Intro 

Let's start getting ready for our speech competition.  We will begin with practicing and constructing an opening sequence.

An opening should; clearly establish your position on a topic, grab the readers attention with a quote, poem, anecdotal story, and finally set up the audience with a brief highlight of evidence you will use.

Let's use this picture as our starting point
