In my opinion, I believe that there are definitely its pros and cons about technology. First of all let us begin with the pros. With the power of the internet, you can find out anything you want, it is an extremely useful thing when it comes to your research. Like if someone decided to research about relative physics, they would not have to go to their local library, scour the shelves of books for whatever information that there are looking for. Instead, they can go on their computer and look up that information with hardly any hassle at all. With a couple key strokes they can find whatever it is that they want. Not only is the internet a useful tool for gaining knowledge but it is could be used for entertainment. You can watch movies on line, you can watch videos on YouTube and you can also use it as a gaming central if you like cheesy game with horrible graphics. Another pro would be that you can use it as a way to communicate with other people, even if they are like, all the way around the world. Something called email and Facebook works with communication. You can also use that the internet as a way to advertise yourself, if you own a business, you can advertise yourself through the internet. Billboard signs can only cover so much ground. With the internet, your everywhere, (as long as you pay for it, keep that it mind)
ReplyDeleteNow on with the cons of the internet. Some people may call this the social age, but I think not. We are really becoming less social. On the scale of evolution (we are homosapien) everything before us on the evolutionary scale were very social animals, in fact, they relied on each other in order to survive the world that laid before them. Now that we have phones and the new iphone 6, we become less social because we are mesmerized by our devises. A majority of the people in the cities rely on their phones, for research, and entertainment. What this is really doing is that it makes people lazy. What will this do for the work force? It will make a lot of the blue collar workers lazy (unless they were raised without technology) and a lot of the factories today AI and machine operated. They even have programs to do your filing for you. People may consider this saving time, but it makes you lazy. Period. Another con is that with the new technology we have and the rate it is improving at, how would we know what the economy will be like ten years from now, in fact, how can we tell what it will be like ten years from now if we do not know what it will be like a week from now. Eventually, people will start with super-secret things that could be used as weapons, like the genesis project in Canada, to make a high voltage photon laser, the proto type cut through cement, scientist say is it going to be used for drilling, I think otherwise. Or the tesla project, in America, where there supposedly making and electric based weapon that can fire multiple tendrils of fifteen thousand volts per second. These sound like next weapons.

Although there are also curses which are access to bad information and inappropriate items. This means that you are able to do inappropriate things and you can get helpful information, but it is up to you to use the internet wisely and only access helpful information.
The internet can help children get involved with information around the world. If they want they are able to access as much information as they want and become more aware about certain topics. They can use the information they have researched on their computer to further enhance your work and add real facts and interesting information to your response. This in fact helps make your ideas more understandable because your idea can clearly be justified since you have given a real world example! You are also able to enhance your work by using the internet. You are able to search up synonyms for words and enhance the vocabulary you use. You can also search up important information and quotes, you can then use that information to make your work better.
Even though there are many benefits if you use the internet, there are also many negatives to the internet. There are many inappropriate articles, websites, videos and images that are inappropriate and/or not suitable for certain age groups. Many people also learn many bad things due to the internet, because all the information whether its bad info or good info, its all available! You could learn bad words, bad habits, bad trends, bad music.These are all things which can become habits and ruin your life!
Another benefit is that you are able to message and talk to other people across the internet through you own home. You can talk to other... to be continued....

This seems to be very helpful but it can also be very harmful to talk to strangers. I mean... Look what happened to Amanda Todd, she ends d up committing suicide because she had talked to the wrong people over the Internet. In order to use social media you have to be very mindful of everything you do and usually younger kids don't follow this rule and that is why there are age restrictions on every social media registration, although many kids don't take it seriously and fake their age, this may cause problems to occur for themselves and this is not the websites fault because when they asked you to read the agreements page and you just clicked agree without even reading it, you just agreed that you are not responsible for anything that you do wrong or anything that happens to you!

The internet also creates social isolation and obesity.The biggest problem with having the Internet is, its ability to create rifts between the real and virtual world. The virtual world can often seem so alluring that once hooked, going back to real life seems daunting. There is an addiction for everything that is related to the web and that includes excessive internet surfing, online gambling and social networking. In my opinion, I think that there are a lot of benefits of the internet, but that varies from how we use the internet as. Positives to the citizens are such as one, we can search everything in one click at home without ever needing to go anywhere. Secondly, we can connect with people from all around the world without going anywhere. This reason can be used positively or negatively. Positive because you can save money and effort than travelling 10 minutes to go see a friend or 14 hours to take a trip around the globe. Negatively, people are forgetting the outside world and even when they go outside, they tend to look for Wi-Fi so they can talk to their friends than enjoying the nature. I think that we should use the internet as a useful resource for benefits and not forget our surroundings. The internet is tending to make us lazy. We are known as the “pioneers” of the internet, and if there are these kinds of circumstances as pioneers, I wonder what life will be like for the neoteric users in the late 2400s? I personally use the internet a lot, but I am also aware of the negatives and the iniquity it is causing and will continue to. In what other ways can the internet have a negative effect on us? And like you said, we can connect with people from around the world, isn't that very dangerous as sometimes we might not know them? For your "cons" don't you think addiction and exposure is main? Now our generation is exposed to so much and we don't even realize that the moves we make are wrong. How do you think we can stop this or at least decrease the number of people who are threatened or bullied over the internet?
DeleteConnecting with people around the world as in people who might have family around the world. People wouldn't wanna spend tons of money to meet two families around the globe. Therefore things like Skype, Facebook, etc, exist. For the people you don't know, that's up to yourself on how you want to deal with strangers as no one can force you to communicate with them. Also, every social networking site has filters of how strict you want your privacy. Secondly, addiction and exposure is a strong point along with supporting points I listed above. We can stop this mainly by learning more about what's right for ourselves and what isn't. Especially parents, who play a very important role in our lives should keep check on our social networking sites since they know a lot more than us and know what's better since they've seen a lot more. Also, many people like to use passcodes to protect their phones so no one accesses their information, and many people don't tell their parents either. I think your parents should know if anything ever goes wrong or in fact just to keep a check on you and if you're afraid to let your parents know your passwords, I'm sure you, yourself know you're doing something wrong you don't want them to know of. Also, how police officers, teachers, crime stoppers, etc go around school to school informing us about what's wrong and right, we should really take advice from that and follow it as if anything ever happens, we know exactly what action to take.

Some benefits would include: pageantry of time, international online market, familiarizing us with new jobs, preparing for education and much more. When I say the “pageantry of time” I mean how precious it is to us! ReplyDeleteI do believe that technology and internet offer all of us many benefits from children to youth to adults. It is very well used and also very valuable because of its great amount of information it gives us.
ReplyDeleteFor children, the internet is beneficial to them because of how it includes websites for them to learn their A,B,C’s and 1,2,3’s also how they could learn grammar, and how to write proper sentences. Technology does help children learn more and more so they are ready for school. Since most children are curious, the internet is always open with information on what they need to look up or know about, whether it’s from which dog is best to buy, to why fish don’t die in water with the lack of oxygen.
For the youth, the internet give many advantages such as the save of the trip to the library, they don’t have to be going aisle by aisle looking for a certain book for some project like back in the day. media can also develop teens’ reading and writing using blogs, research or even the news. there are also websites where if students need help with their homework, they can online chat with a person who is willing to succour them. Automation also helps keep teens’ grades up depending if their teachers include it in their projects, for example allow them to make a presentation on a website or using google slides etc. this would prompt the student to desire completing the assignment otherwise it would be boring to them concluding to nothing being completed. and last but not least, it helps complete projects in time. For example if you have group members and you need to finish planning or change something from its plan, in order to be more efficient, you could text message your friends/ group members so everyone grasps the new idea.
Now for adults, there are many many advantages to technology, but the problem is since they are not used to it and do not rely on it, they don't acknowledge those many advantages that come with media. for example now, adults don't only have newspapers to find jobs, they could use the internet and search up nearest good jobs. adults can also use tech to research for their job to become better at it. they save trips to the grocery store or bank, because theres online banking now. they can keep in touch with the news or the weather forecast so they dress properly. they can find advice on situations they need help on like parenting. there are more jobs meaning more opportunities for them to work in nowadays such as software developers, computer systems analyst, civil engineer, database administrator and many more. also, depending on jobs, the advanced technology would help finish it expeditiously. finally, technology lets adults communicate with their relatives or old friends in different countries. “the internet could be a very positive step towards education, organization and participation in a meaningful society.” Noam Chomsky
There may be many advantages but along with them come all those disadvantages which i will mention one for each age group. for children, children have just started their life, they need to begin to speak and write, this helps them build character and facility so when they're a bit older they will be ahead. often nowadays, parents buy these devices for their young children so they are entertained and helped educationally-wise but they do not comprehend that they are doing a bad for their children, all they are doing is downloading games on those devices which helps in no way. children need to run and play and have fun not sit around like couch potatoes playing unnecessary games. this makes them lazier and lazier by the day and you do not want your child to be lazy and not obey you at 9 years of age do you?
DeleteFor teenagers, technology causes them to get away from their parents and not spend some time with them while they can. we use technology in the wrong way, sure i text people all the time and I'm on Facebook and social networks but thats the problem, we don't really focus on learning or using these devices for good things, we are just being lazy and not caring about the world around us which is wrong. doing this separates us from the real world and the online world. we can't be sitting around all lazy because if we are like this now that everything is handed to us, how are we going to be with a family where we have to work for our children in order for them to have a good and healthy life? the way we use technology is not helping us be successful at all!
And finally for adults, many adults that have smart phones are just getting to caught up on that instead of their families. now that we see it its scary because they are always on their phone especially during family time and thats becoming a problem because not only is that splitting the family but the marriage too. then these adults claim its not their fault when they know it is. and yes some adults don't need to be successful or aren't focused on their future because thats what they are doing, but being on their phones a lot does not help them at work, this is all becoming an addiction now!

The internet is beneficial in many ways and the way it is used can be used by children, teens, and adults. There are two aspects to using the internet; the positive and the negative.
ReplyDeleteSomething positive about having the internet right at our fingertips is great for doing research for projects and saves us time to go to the library and finding the information by scanning book by book, but instead having it and the click of the button. By having such fortuity we are able to save us more time and have more accurate results. A quote that I found that relates to this topic is “The internet could be a very positive step towards education, organization and participation in a meaningful society.” I feel that this quote ties in everything I said about finding information online.
Another thing I find positive about having the internet is that we are able to communicate to others on various discussions variety going from the Ferguson shooting and to award shows. By having such quick access we are able to scrutinize each others opinions from two different provinces and states. Communication is great and by having others challenge that is a wonderful prospect of the internet.
There are many positives to having internet but would we be better off without it? Maybe we would, maybe we wouldn’t. But at the end of the day I know that sometimes the internet isn’t the best influence on our generation as there is profanity, trends that aren’t all that positive, influencing music, and bad habits. This generation is growing up on the internet. Not to mention there are people out there who have a “virtual life”. A mother had killed her baby because his cries were distracting her from playing Farmville. If a game that’s about expanding farms affects a 22 year old imagine the children! A quote that I find strikingly convenient is “The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.” As mentioned before the lady that had shook her baby to death had a virtual life on a game that revolved around the internet.

On the internet society there are many people that bad and good. Some people just add to stalk you, and some add you because they are friends or they know you, but some people try to invade your privacy and they know when you come online or when you don't come online, and those are the bad parts but you also get to meet friends and you get to interact with them by using the internet. Some strangers just add you because they are total stalkers and they want to know where you live so they add you, and some are actual robbers they trace your IP address just to find out where you live, and where they should plan there next robbery, and they also know if you are that rich or poor, because usually they are just people that live in your neighborhood or street. So the internet has its ups and its down, some of the ups could be talking to your friends, some of the downs can be getting stalked by random people.If you go to school you can find out what is going to occur at your school at that specific day or week or month or year.
