ReplyDeleteAnswer 1: My first impressions towards David were that he may not be a nice guy and he was more like a person who would get others in trouble and put all the blame on them. As well I thought that he took advantage on him being on his wheelchair. That is because he knew that him being on his wheelchair would make him look innocent, and put all blame on other. this is because that is what he did to Sean. Even though it wasn't Sean's fault he was about to be susspended, and it would be hard for the principle and the students to suspect David all because of his wheelchair. Before that fight David just looked like a friendly person who wouldn't get into fights with others, since he is on wheelchair. Unfortunetly it started to look like he was a pretty mean guy, who got into fights witha person before the school even started. And what shocked me was that it was David's first day of schoool and he wasn't scared to get in fights with others.
ReplyDelete1) my first impressions on David are that he's doesn't seen like a calm kinda guy he seems like he has some anger issues so at the moment I don't like him because he is a guy who u don't want to be around. he might get you into trouble and he will get into fights so in the end I really don't like him too much but well see how he progres's in the story
ReplyDeleteWhat if he doesn't have anger issues, what if he's just a guy who doesn't like people touching his chair?
DeleteWell he punched Sean for getting In his way I think he does have anger issues
DeleteYou think just because he lunched somebody?
DeleteBeing two faced is not impressive and unfortunately that was the first impression I had on David. At first I thought he was just a boy in a wheel chair but as the story went on I noticed how his personalities changed when he saw/talked too different people. Which did make him look some what two face. So far I do not like David.his character just changes every single minute he goes from nice , to mean , and nice again, and he has to many personalities you don't know which ones are real and which ones aren't
ReplyDeleteBut he is new and he doesn't really know anyone. So he's just trying to find the group of friends he actually fits in
DeleteBut fighting and yelling at people aren't going to make them like you ?
Delete1) My first impressions of David is that I don't like him because at first he started a fight for no reason then he gets him out of trouble then he yells at him for just touching his chair so he has anger issues so i wouldn't like him.
ReplyDeleteMy first impression on David was that his was a kind of person that would make others get in trouble and just safely get away from there. He gets into fights that he has created but blames it on others. He looks very innocent but he is not. I was thinking that if a David can make a person in trouble for no reason then wat else can he do. I don't think his is a kind of person that can be nice to anyone, except for the principal, vice principal, teachers and the school staff.
ReplyDeleteWhy is David only nice to the staff?
DeleteMaybe because he doesn't want to be bad in their eyes. He wants to stay innocent so the next time if he gets in trouble the school staff will not say anything to him.
DeleteIf the students actually saw what was going on and told the teacher the truth that sean was innocent and David was the one who should be blamed for the fight. What do you think will the staff still listen to him or take David's side?
DeleteWhat would you do if you we're we're Sean and David was acting this way to you ?
Delete1. My first expression of David is that he is wise. He might just be using "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer". So he might just be checking if Sean is actually worth being friends.. Since David literally met Sean like 2 school periods ago, he just needs to know if he's actually "friend worthy". I don't blame David, you can't get to know someone within one hour. David is just checking if Sean is "friend worthy". That is a pretty smart plan, if that is what he was going for. This kinda proves that David is nice, he is just figuring out if him and Sean can be actually be friends, and not get into another fist fight. So yeah, I do like him, as a new kid it is probably hard to find who your actually gonna fit it. I don't blame him, he needs to know, if people are actually gonna like him, and not look down at him because he's in a wheel chair.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think the reason is behind David changing his personalities every time?
DeleteSo what your saying is that you don't like David but you like his actions ?
DeleteBut why would you think he's testing him to be his friend? Why would he test him that way? Why not any other way?
DeleteSrushti: he new he's trying to make friends. And the fist fight might have just been a way for people not to look down at him, especially since he's in a wheel chair.
DeleteRochelle: I do like David, he's not acting two faced, he's just making sure he has good friends. He's the new kid, he doesn't know anyone so he's just trying to see right from wrong
Jackie: Hes a new kid, being a new kid is probably hard. You have to find the right friends, just like how you are always with your group. He's just in progress of finding his "group"
But fighting is not going to make you have friends .
DeleteANSWER 2: After the school has started and we also got to know the good and fun side of him, I wounld not disagree for being his friend. I would like to have a friend like him. Though it would be confusing if David gets angry and doesn't even tell why.As far as the text we have read it looks like David had a dream of being a basketball player, though it could be that while playing basketball his leg broke or got fractured and it was not an accident. David could have been an nice and fun student but, after knowing that his dream of being a basketball and an accident changed his whole life he might have changed.
ReplyDeleteWat if after a long time he does something that made u feel ashamed of him and u broke the friendship, he got mad at u and he made u in trouble.
Delete1.) My first impressions of David was that he was a sad kid who can't walk, but then when he started to fight Sean I realized that he is not innocent. He's a rude kid that does not have any respect for his peers, but likes to be fake to teachers and such. Using his wheelchair accident as loop hole to things. No I strongly dislike David and his "additudes". It looks like you can trust the guy, but then again, you really can't. I mean what if he's only doing that just to get what he ants and not care at the end about anything. I can tell he's only pretending to be someone he's not.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he is just pretending to be someone he isn't just so he doesn't feel weak and helpless to other people. You never know how he feels. Maybe in the past he was just a disabled child who was being bullied and called things that put him down. That's probably why he likes basketball. He could have been put down by other kids in the school, and then decided not to play the sport at all. This could also be why David knows so much about this sport and even wears the same shoes as Sean (Basketball shoes). David also showed his skills to Sean when he was playing basketball in his driveway. David could just be a confused individual who needs help finding the right friends. You cant blame him for his behavior, he must have so much anger and pain that he can't or doesn't know how to share. Put yourself in his shoes.
Delete1. In my opinion, David has a very odd character trait. One minute he would have anger, the next minute he would call Sean his friend, and so on. My first impressions on David was that he has a lot of attitude, he's impolite, and he already got himself into a fight physically on his first day of school. The only reason why he didn't get himself into trouble was because Mr.McCulley felt pity for him due to his disability.
ReplyDeleteI don't like David, because of his different traits. I wouldn't like to meet someone who would randomly fight me just because I got in his way. It also doesn't make sense how an hour later,he would call me his friend. This can cause future problems at school, and he would be a bad influence to me and others.
#1.My first impression of David was,"Wow!, this kid has got some spunk to him". To be honest in the beginning of the story i didn't really care for David or he's character, but as the story went along and he's true personality started unfolding and I started to like him more and more. Their was something to him that just was so intriguing to me. Maybe it was the fact that he was in the wheel chair, or maybe it was because him and Sean have almost the exact same mentality and behavior. Whatever it was, i liked him.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you like him? What made him instructing to you?
DeleteThis is a really different answer to what everyone else is saying :D
DeleteI'd never really thought about him this way. I agree, he seems worth knowing.
...that last question doesn't make any sense
DeleteThank you linda
DeleteYou like him even though he's rude ?
DeleteYeah, he seems instresting, but no a good friend. I think you mean you want to get to know him more. Would you really want that kind of person to be a part of your life?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy first impression he is movin weird his attitude keeps shifting I don't think David would be one of those guys I would hang with. he just be like a guy I know. The guy just started a fight so easily he doesn't have enough control to be my friend. Maybe later his attitude would change because we don't know a whole lot about his past
ReplyDelete1
DeleteWhy would you think later his additudes would change?
DeleteMaybe never know
DeleteIf you did know a whole lot about David's past would you change your mind?
DeleteNo I wouldn't, why would he act like that in the first place?

DeleteNo I can not be his friend. I wouldn't know how to trust him or not. If he's being true to me or not. Is he always going to be mad at every small little thing I say? Is he always going to try to get out of everything just because he can't walk? And let me do all the work? That's someone I wouldn't, couldn't, and really shouldn't be friends with.
ReplyDeleteMy first impressions on David was actually that I thought that David was a nice guy but when I heard that David can be mad at one moment and happy and the other but still I would be his friend because he is still nice and I don't really care if he beats up students I will try to help him to stop.
ReplyDelete1) My first impressions of David is that I don't like him because at first he started a fight for no reason then he gets him out of trouble then he yells at him for just touching his chair so he has anger issues so i wouldn't like him.
ReplyDeleteWould it change your mind about being his friend if David had a brighter attitude? Why or Why not. Justify
DeleteIt depends if he doesn't start any types of random fights and doesn't randomly get mad then yes
DeleteI don't think I would like to be a friend of his. Who knows maybe in the future he might make me in trouble for done nothing. People will not blame him because he is on a wheelchair, they will think that he is innocent and I am the one that did everything.
ReplyDeletewell what if after being friends you get to know why he is like that and because of being friends with him he wouldn't blame you for anything would you still be friends with him?
DeleteNo because we can't tell if that person is nice if his or her first impression is this bad.
DeleteSo basically I am not so sure
Deletewhat do you think the reason is behind David being such a person like this who can change them self in no time?
Delete2. I don't think I could be friends with David he seems so two face . I would never know if he's being a real friend or a fake friend. I also don't like people who scream and get mad when they could talk . When people scream at me when they could talk it doesn't make me listen it makes me think your ignorant and rude , he also gets mad really easily and it seems that he can't control his anger . I don't want to end up as a human punching bag . David seems nice when he's not mad but I don't want to risk that chance of having a fake friend.
ReplyDeleteNaw for now I don't really like his attitude that's not really the kind of friend I would want.
ReplyDelete2
DeleteWould it change your mind about being his friend if David had a brighter attitude? Why or Why not. Justify
DeleteYes i would change my mind because your personality could show your actions
Delete#2.Yes, i think i could be his friend. I say that because I like basketball and I assume he does to because on the cover of the book his on a basketball court rolling his wheelchair. Also, I already have a friend kind of like so i think i could put up with his outburts
ReplyDeleteMy first impression toward David was that I first thought he was a good and a calm guy.but I knew that he is not person you would want to hang around because he takes advantage of his wheel chair, because he knows no one will say anything to him so far I don't like David and I don't trust him because you never know when he will be angry and ready to fight and when he will be your friend
ReplyDelete2) Personally, I feel like me and David could be friends. I kinda think that once David actually starts to get to know me properly, he could actually be nice and not "two-faced". You can't really judge a dude by like about 1 and a half hours. The fact that he is new, may make him a little "judgey". You can't really complain, he's new and he is looking for the right type of friends. He may just put the "tough boy" act just to make sure people look down at him. If he didn't show the sense of being nice , I wouldn't want to be his friend. But the fact that he does have a sensible side is good. Him and Sean actually got along for like a school period.
ReplyDelete1. In my opinion, i really don't think of David as a good person because he has two faces which kind of interferes with how people get an impression of him. It depends on which side of him David shows to the opposing person for them to know what type of a person David can be. So if Mrs. Burke was taken as an example, David was all smiles and soft but just a little while ago - before entering the math class for the first time - he was scolding Sean for directing him by holding on to his chair. that time, Sean knew the true David but their teacher was caught into all his kindness. David is a type of person who seeks advantages from others' weaknesses so I won't think he's a person worthy of appreciation.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think that David was really nice to Mrs.Burke?
DeleteQuestion no. 1 My first impression of David was a disadvantaged kid, who has anger management or is depressed because of his disabilitiesI do like David, he is a kid on a wheel chair. He is probably depressed over his problem and he feels anger. Or maybe he could have some jealousy on the kids with feet. You can't really blame David for his actions, he might be mentally disabled.
ReplyDelete2) I don't think David could be my friend because he seems like a bad kinda guy he starts fight and has every bad attitude and he will probably get me into a fight so he's not really friend material he's a trouble maker so maybe if he changes I will think about friendship.
ReplyDeleteEric if David ever gets in a fight with you how will you handle the situation?
DeleteMy first Impression on David are that he isn't a nice kid. I don't really like him. He gets angry very quickly at other students, but he is all smiley when he's with people older than him. I think that he's just doing this because he feels like people will feel sorry and pity for him. He probably doesn't want people to think he's weak, or just because he is disabled he can't be like other students. Though when he is with teachers, he wants them to know and feel that he is innocent. So when he shows his strength to other students, he wouldn't get blamed or in trouble for anything. To me, David is a hard person to understand. But this is just the beginning of the story, I'm sure my opinions will change as the story goes on and as I know who David really is.
ReplyDeleteDo you think he is taking an advantage on his wheelchair?
DeleteYes, I do. Because he can't walk, he knows people will feel sorry for Him so he is using his disabilities to prove himself innocent.
DeleteMy first impression of David was that he was a scary kid in a wheelchair. He was very aggressive and sort of rude, but after reading this chapter, I'm pretty sure he acts like that for a reason. Like that time where Sean accidentally grabbed his wheelchair, and David lashed out saying the wheelchair was special, or, "this isn't some stroller!"
ReplyDeleteI also take it that he's used to the pity people give him, though Sean says he doesn't understand. He must have something causing him to act so difficult. I wouldn't say I dislike him so early In the book, yet, I don't particularly like him, either.
I honestly wouldn't mind befriending him, even if he got me into deep doodoo for being attacked, because it was McCulley who took his side, he didn't tell McCulley to do so. Even though I said that I wouldn't mind being his friend, I probably wouldn't use my time to seek him out or something like that. The next time I'd see him is when I would try to smoothen things out. If I was in Sean's place, and was forced to look after him, I would definitely try to be his friend, though make it clear that I will not be apologizing, as HE STARTED THE FIGHT >:0 I wouldn't want to guide around some kid who hates my guts for another few days. That would be awkward. :D
Yes I would be David's friend because he is nice and students should not mess with him that is why David gets mad
ReplyDeleteI really like david to be my friend because he seems like a lot of fun and if I'm ever late then he might save me and can help us get out of trouble. It would save a lot of phone calls to our parents. But I would not want to be his friend to if he beat all my guts out and get blamed for it
ReplyDeleteSo Suhaib you will take advantage of him being handicapped because he will save you from getting in trouble from the teacher?
DeleteI wouldn't like David because he has split personalities which makes it very hard to keep up with him. I'd rather have a friend that has one personalities then a million. There for in that conclusion I don't like him.
ReplyDelete2. Simular to question number 1. I wouldn't want to be David's friend because of his reactions, attitude, and different traits. Relating back to that language activity about friendship, I think honesty is important in friendship because, honesty shows in the friendship whether its real or all just a fake. The way David express himself towards people is different depending on who you are. He is a so called "Two-Face". This means that if David and I were to be friends, he can act to me anyway he would want. For example, David could act really kind and helpful to me when I am around, but then behind my back, he can go around gossiping, spreading rumours and etc. In my point of view, Its not the best choice to be David's friend.
ReplyDeleteThat is really true that when you get in trouble he can make you out of trouble and he does seems a lot of fun
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that David was a nice and innocent person. But instead it is the opposite. David is a type of person that is almost always angry. I noticed that he really loves getting others into trouble. He is new and it's only the first day of school, and he has already gotten Sean into lots of trouble. Sean and Bradley have just met, and there are already many problems.
ReplyDeleteI dislike Bradley because he is a person that gives people a lot attitude. Also, he is a two face! In front of teachers or any adult, he is very kind. But in real, he is a person that loves getting into trouble.
*Sean and David have just met, and there are already many problems
Delete2. I couldn't be a friend of David because i can't trust him for long, if he can stay with a meaningful friendship, or hold on to his good qualities. It could be possible that he wins over my trust with a fake friendship but soon enough after I'm "sure" i can trust him, he could go around with a whole different personality behind my back spilling secrets or passing rumors.
ReplyDeleteBut don't you think it's just the beginning of knowing David?...don't you think as the story goes on he'll be a better friend??
DeleteMy first impression of David was that he is a very rude and obnoxious student, who doesn't know how to behave and talk to other students in a proper manner. David is also deceptive because he shows his true face to the students which is being ignorant and his fake side which is being very polite and respectful to the teachers and taking advantage of himself being handicapped. David is deceptive because when Sean was taking David to his classroom, Sean started to push David's wheelchair. David got so angry when Sean did that, so Sean let go. Sean knew in his mind that David doesn't let anyone touch his wheelchair, but when they got to class Mrs.Burke started to push Davis's wheelchair to his seatt. Sean was so surprised because he never said anything to Mrs.Burke which shows that David is two-faced. David takes advantage of himself being handicapped because at the first day of school David was late for his class, when he went to class he started to talk in a soft voice to the teacher, so the teacher Mrs.Burke would feel bad for him and not be angry at him. My overall first impression of David is that he is rude and deceptive.
ReplyDeleteI think I could be a friend of David, but wouldn't talk to him much because of his attitude and his behaviour with other students. I would not think David has a trustworthy person because a first impression on a person could last for a long time even though after he stared to be very nice and friendly. He would not be my good friend of mine because I already know that he is two-faced and who knows he could be spreading rumours about me and talking behind my back about the things I tell him. So even if he was my friend he would always be a student who doesn't know how respect others in my perspective
ReplyDeletebut why would you be his friend if you wont talk to him that much because of his behavior?

DeleteAnswer 1: My impressions towards David are that he isn't innocent as he looks. I know he is disabled and is in a wheelchair but he's just taking an advantage of it to get people in trouble. Besides it was just the first day of school and he already started a big fight and got Sean in trouble. I think this is a mean way of him acting towards people and especially because he has 2 faces. He tries to be nice to teachers but in general he loves fighting its all he can pretty much do. I don't think my impressions would be positive towards David at all
ReplyDeleteAnswer 2: I don't think I would be a friend of David towards his reaction. I mean how long would i trust him he has a good side and bad side so it's like whenever he wants he will be nice and whenever he wants he would be mad. He also blames everything on the people even though its not their fault. I know how they say "never judge a book by its cover" its absolutely correct since we know who he is and how he reacts why would we make a mistake its better of just being class mates.
ReplyDeleteI might just might be david's friend. I can get out of trouble a lot with david because a lot of teachers feel pity for him. There for dropping all harm or bad things he has done. He can also do this to people to which is a good thing. As long as i don't mess with david i'll be fine. We can still have a chill time together. And if david gets to far, dump him as a friend and leave it as that.
ReplyDeleteOk..so basically your saying that you would be David's friend just to use him?
DeleteI think David and I could be friends. He may seem like a hard guy to understand, but he has feelings too. Everyone needs friends. David probably has trouble finding the right group of people he should hang out or be with. Not even thirty minutes after the fight, Sean and David were "Best Friends" in math class. David has trouble understanding people, and people have trouble understanding him. I would be his friend and help him out. Though if he gets too far with this friendship, and is bringing me down, I think it would be better off if we were just classmates.
ReplyDeleteMy impressions towards David is that he is a very mean person, first he blamed Sean for the fight then after he didn't appericate what Sean was trying to do which was to help him know his new school.
ReplyDelete2)I think in life we sometimes have friends thats friendly, kind, loving and sometimes we may have friends who's totally the opposite or maybe have two different personalities , but their still our friends. So my personal opinion is that David and i would've been friends ,but at the same time i would've tried avoide trouble with him.
ReplyDelete
