Scott is Sean's best friend from last year. The two students had plenty of fun and plenty of trouble in grade 7.
Sean wants a fresh start in grade 8 but Scott has turned to smoking and tongue rings they seem to be on different paths.
Do you like Scott? Why or why not?
Who is a bigger problem for Sean? David and his short temper or Scott and his smoking?
Will Scott and Sean remain friends like they were in grade 7 this year in grade 8? Make a prediction.

ReplyDeleteNO i dont like scott beacauses he smokes and it looks like from last year he was in alot of trouble i dont want to be with a person who might get me in trouble or get me sufficated with smoke so no i dont like scott he seems like in the future he will probably get into gangs or drugs and i dont want to be with those kind of people
ReplyDeleteIf you smoke you end up in gangs?
DeleteScott saved Sean! how bad can he be?
Deleteno i mean that the way scott is and the way the book described him i assumed that in the future he will make more bad decisions and also even tho scott saved sean scott is a guy I wouldn't hang aroung with the somkeing and all
DeleteJust cause Scott saved his buddy Sean doesn't mean he is good mr Cheney. There buddy's of course Scott has an ale by for both of them
DeleteHe is a bad influence on Sean since Grade 7, getting him in trouble, wanting to get introuble, Does that sound like a good guy? Not to me
Deletewell he was just trying to make scott join him again and doing something good for sean would make him join scott
DeleteYes it is horrible that Scott included him with his friends!
DeleteBut who got into trouble last year!? just Scott? Isn't Sean a fighter with a short fuse?
Sean is a short fuse but Scott by the looks of it made him like that, If scott didn't invite Sean over on his first day intto that lunch table Sean I think would have been a quiet guy that focuses on his work and plays Basketball, Scott basically ruined Sean's chance to be a good kid.
DeleteSean is easy to provoke, but he wouldn't be in half the trouble he already was in last year.
DeleteHow do you know Sean is easy to provoke?
Delete#1 I don't like Scott he smokes and he treats school like its the mall ,he gets in trouble allot because he gets into fights allot. He could grow up to be come a doctor or an engineer but he takes life like its a video game.
ReplyDeleteand is that different from 85% of students at BHJMS?
DeleteNo but none of the students smoke or get into fights most of the times. You don't see someone take out a lighter and light a cigarette.
DeleteI agree, Scott clearly isn't thinking about his future and the chances that he could end up as a hobo on the streets. Most of the kids in BHJMS wouldn't smoke on school property, and hopefully not at all
DeleteScott hasnt been in a fight ... David and Sean for sure
Deleteisn't kind of late for him to restart
Deletehas he ruined his future
DeleteBut who knows judging Scott by his personality he could be dealing drugs and fighting on the streets this is all based on his characteristics .
DeleteNot really Rajveer Scott could change he is still young
Delete1. do I like Scott? Naw man he seems to be going Down different paths not the wisest decisions. I wouldn't be his friend if I was in Sean position he would be a guy I know I wouldn't hang out with.
ReplyDeleteBut he is funny and included Sean when nobody else would...how bad is he then?
DeleteSo what if you are funny that doesn't make you a good person. Sean would of ended up making friends in the first place he was new no one went to him because they were examining what kind of person he was
Deletebeing funny doesn't make you a good teacher either lol
DeleteSean would have made friends other then Scott? how can you be co certain
It's all the same in every school new kids are alone the first week that's only because the other kids are examining him as a friend. Wonder why Sean has no other good friends because when he went with Scott he already classified himself as a trouble maker with out knowing.

ReplyDelete1) No I don't like Scott because I don't like his Characteristics. Because he smokes alot and that he's trying to act cool by smoking and by having a tongue piercing.
ReplyDeleteDoes he try to hard to be cool? Anyone at BHJMS try that hard?
Deletewell yes he does alot if he dosnt want to act cool why would he get tongue earings, the only people who get tongue earing are trying to be cool. well i know some people at BHJMS but i wont mention names.
DeleteYes he does try too hard he may not notice it himself but he certainly does
DeleteAnything odd or different about that? How many people try hard to construct their image for others to consume?
Deletealot of people try hard to construct and image whether its strong big powerful or smart or even cool you might not notice it but people do
DeleteI think Scott trys hard to make students notice him so people will know him as the bad boy and that the school is his turf.
Delete1) No, i don't like Scott and this is because i think that he is bad influence and tends to get people in trouble.
ReplyDelete2) I think that that Scott is a bigger problem for David because, if David follows Scott, he can start smoking just like him ,which can affect David in his future.
3) I think that Scott and Sean wouldn't remain friends like they were in grade 7 because, it seams like Sean is trying to avoid trouble and i think that if he is trying to avoid trouble he has to be less than friends with Scott.
But Scott saved Sean from getting into trouble on the first day remember? is Scott all bad or does he just get silly?
DeleteI do remember ,but it doesn't makes sense he's still not a good friend because he gets you out of trouble and at he same time gets you into trouble!!..i think that he is both, bad and begin silly!
DeleteHow much of Sean's trouble is because of Scott? Could you argue that Sean's short temper and outburts are equally or even more so to blame for all their trouble last year
Deleteuhh...i still think he is bad influence to Sean even if it's not his fault of getting Sean in trouble!
DeleteQuestion: Do you like Scott? Why or why not?
ReplyDeletewell right now i don't really like Scott because of his attitude and his hobbies .he like to smoke and he has tongue earrings and I don't like that, and like Sean said he is a trouble maker like David like when he was smoking outside school if someone caught him smoking and Sean would get in trouble because he was sitting right beside him.he has not the kind of personality I like the hobbies I like or the interests that i like.he is going in a bad direction because he doesn't care because his parents wont say any thing to him, and that why I don't like Scott..
What kind of attitude does he have? He has been all jokes thus far! its been Sean and David that have displayed bad judgement
DeleteHow do you know that his parents don't say anything to him? How do you know that his parents didn't influence him?
Deletehe has the king of cool and smug attitude well i agree with that but he is try to make sena join him and look cool and start smoking and be best friends again.
Deletebecause if his parents would say something to him he wont be like sitting outside smoking on the first day of school picking on younger students and after all doesnt even care at all.
DeleteNo he's not. Guess who told him not pick a fight on the first day of school Sean. He might not chain but he is helping shawn
DeleteWhat kind of Parents does Sean have? and yet he has a temper and fights.
Deletewell he was just picking on kids not picking fights who would know a kid like david would come around and beat him back beacuse he was picking on him
Deletewell he has kind of responsible parents beacuse if your parents are not responsible you wont start fresh you wont avoid fighting you wont you will be like scott smoking toungue earrings bad influence seans parents are responsilble and thats why sean trys to avoid fight and be good in grade 8.
DeleteYes I do like Scott because he might be a Smoker, But he still is helping Sean stay out of trouble, but he is kinda better than David because David would beat Scott. Even though Scott might be a smoker he still is a loyal, nice and Sean's best friend and won't beat him up every ten seconds
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteScott does not help Sean stay out of trouble, Didn't scott get Sean in SOO much trouble last year? Isn't that why Mr.McCully doesn't trust Sean, Its all because of Scott.
DeleteScott does seem to have a strong sense of loyalty!!!
DeleteWho picked Loyalty as the most important characteristic in a friend?
Lol me
DeleteMaybe last year but he might help Sean turn over a new leaf because he influence Sean not to fight David so he is helping the transition but he not helping him self
Deleteme beacuse if someone is loyal they will be honest and they will be generous to ou loyalty has all 3 characteristics.
DeleteHe is not helping Sean stay out trouble really, he almost got him into trouble. But he SUGGESTED he just leave him smoke.
Deleteyes, he did got Sean out of trouble but at the same time he got Sean into to trouble!..do you still like him for that?
DeleteBut not Sean he doesn't smoke he just stands by Scott as loyal friend does and help him though the time
DeleteBut don't you think he is bad influence?
DeleteSo if you like loyalty then you must like Scott - Yes?!
DeleteAnd how will he get in trouble he's not the one smoking so Sean is innocent and Scott will say that Sean doesn't smoke and will take the blame for each other
DeleteScott is starting a new leaf and will do anything to play basketball so if anything influence him it will be after the season
Delete1) I dont like Scott because he smokes and pierce is self also he does not get in trouble this year yet and he try's to help Sean so he would not get in trouble,
ReplyDeletebut last year Scott made Sean get in trouble so I think that Sean would not be friends with a person who smokes and I think that David and Sean would be friends
Sean will dump Scott just because he smokes?
Deletehe wont really dump him beacuse they have been best friends for a long time and they still are but this year sean doesn't want to get in trouble and be a bad influence and the only way he can avoid doing that is stop hanging around with scott because when youa are with scott trouble is following you.
DeleteDo you like Scott? Why?
ReplyDelete-I don't like Scott because he is a bad kid, A bad influence and a bad example for Sean. Scott is the main reason Sean got in SOO much trouble last year. Sean has been a bad kid, He smokes, he talks like a punk and He doesn't care if he gets in trouble. Scott is a bad kid and influence to everyone,I don't like Scott.
Strong words! would you be able to avoid a student like this at BHJMS?
DeleteI would try my best to keep my distance but I wouldn't talk to him, I wouldn't be his friend.
Deletebut what if he bugging you around you would hae to talk to him to get him of you.
DeleteWhat if your new and they are the only one to accept you, what will you do
DeleteI wouldn't accept him
DeleteWhos The Bigger Problem? I think scott is the bigger problem because david doesn't smoke or have touge rings and he seems to be ok aside from the anger scott on the otherhand he smokes with is bad and he also has a tounge ring witch is weird so in my opinion scott would be the bigger problem
ReplyDeleteA tongue ring is a bigger threat then a kid with a vicious temper that will get physical at a moments notice?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletenot just the tounge ring smoking too plus now david is kinda catching on too me david yes he has some anger problems but sometime he can ge nice also scott is in grade 8 and hes smoking like come on whats next alcohol?
DeleteScott has only been nice! has he displayed any other characteristics ?
DeleteEven tho hes been only nice he can influence sean witch is way worse than anger issues so even if hes nice his ways are ten times worse smoking is bad and who knows where sean will get if he says with scott
Deleteagreed ... give me an example to prove it
DeleteRight now Sean is focused on his basketball season if he does anything bad he knows its done for him so he will act smarter than last year
DeleteJust because someone has a tounge ring and smokes doesn't mean there bad !
Deletefor example scott is and influence because in the last chapter scott asked sean if he wanted a cigarette and so scott is trying to influence sean into a cigarette so there thats my example to prove it.
DeleteRochelle right now im not saying scott is bad but im saying he can be an influence
DeleteHis question shouldn't influence Sean . Sean is his own person and you have to stand your ground. If you know some things wrong don't do it
DeleteBut he asked, so he didn't beg Sean to take one he asked if he wanted one and so Sean had a choice
Deleteso smoking is the greatest threat? Could you use the same theory to argue David is a horrid influence on Sean because of his aggressive nature?
DeleteBut Rochelle, You are right, it doesnt mean there bad, but look, Scott is 13! He`s too young to be smoking or have tongue percings. Why is he doing it ? I get it, it could have been peer pressure, or depression etc... But still he`s setting a bad influence to Sean. Couldn't Scott tell Sean he`s depress, (well, if he is -.-) If not, then i disagree with you because of Scott age is too young to be doing stuff like this.
DeleteSmoking isn't the greatest threat but its a bad one I wouldn't want a friend who smokes around me at least. And tounge ring that's duty I would tell my friend that straight up
Deleteim not saying smoking is the greatest threat but its pretty bad and also my theory might not work with david because sean is trying to keep clean in all situations plus in that fight with ross and sean sean didnt fight back so its gonna be more no almost impossible to get sean to be influenced by david
DeleteYes it is . David has a bad temper and so does Sean and we don't ask to have a bad temper Sean and david just need to learn how to control it
Delete1. Personally, I think me and Scott would be friends, but we would like hang out. I like him enough to hang out with him, but not as like a everyday buddy. He's al-right, its not like he 100% bad. I mean, he did try to stop Sean from fighting David. Friend may be just to strong of a word, maybe like once in a while type of friend. So over all I think he's okay.
ReplyDeleteThe middle ground!
DeleteBut what about the smoking and the tongue piercing? Will you still be his friend when he smokes around you and asks you if you want to smoke with him?? Isn't a 13 year old too young for a tongue piercing?
DeleteIts not like Scott's going to try and force you to smoke. And even if he does, it matters up to you. (in my case it would a no). The tongue piercing does not seem so bad. I mean if you are going to react on a tongue piercing, you would mind as well act on a carlidge piercing too.
DeleteWould you really want to be his friend? In my opinion I think the only reason your saying that because he sounds cool. But if he was really in your life, I think you would think twice of wanting him there.
DeleteSmoking isn't cool... But think about it.. Most of BHJMS does go toward the "cool" people. Do they not? Everyone likes the class clown, and the class clown is a trouble maker, are they not?
DeleteNot most class clowns are trouble makers, I think most of them JUST like making the students laugh.
DeleteNot everyone attracts to the same people gitie
DeleteClass clowns are trouble they distract the class jackie
DeleteHave you seen a class clown do what ever and not get in to trouble?? Jackie
DeleteBut majority do go towards them. Rochelle
Nope you cant say that ! this is from your opinion there are diffrent schools and diffrent people
DeleteNo, I don't like Scott. Scott is a person that smokes in front of the school. He also has a bad reputation in this school. He has gotten Sean in so much trouble in the previous year. That was because Sean was his friend. I wouldn't want to be friends with someone that always gets in trouble. I also wouldn't want to be friends with someone that is always smoking.
ReplyDeleteWhat about when Scott tried getting Sean out of the fight? what would you consider that?
DeleteNo I do not like Scott, nor his attitude. He knows that smoking and piercings are bad for him, especially for a guy his age. But chooses to do it anyways. He knows that his friend is trying to stay out of trouble and if he was a a good friend to him let alone his friend he should try to help him stay out of trouble. Even might try for his self too.
ReplyDeleteBut what about when he tried Sean from fighting Scott, would that make him a bad guy?
DeleteNo it wouldn't, but I think the only reason he did is because he knew Mr.McCulley would catch him in the act. I think he wanted the fight to continue but just now when there is teachers around.
DeleteWhat if the fight happened late after school? With no teachers around? And you knew what you did about Scott being a trouble maker? And he still tried to stop Sean? Then what would you think?
Delete2) I think that David is a bigger problem then Scott because that's Scott's problem if he smokes not Sean. And i think that David will be a bigger problem because that he has to be his guide and that they have most of there class's together so Sean will have a harder time with David and his short temper.
ReplyDeleteTrue but what if Scott influences sean to smoke then what happens?
DeleteNo I don't like Scott. He was a big troublemaker in grade 7 and both Scott and Sean got into loads of trouble. Sean wanted a new start for himself in grade 8, and I think Scott isn't the right decision. Knowing that he smokes on the first day of school and that he has tongue piercings, Scott wouldn't have the brightest future for himself.
ReplyDeleteSo far I like scott. I don't know his character too well to judge his personality yet . I do know that he smokes and he got in loads of trouble last year but I still don't know why he got in trouble or what he did last year and I am not going to dislike someone just because they smoke that's their choice and smoking says nothing about your personality
ReplyDeleteSo your saying because you don't know his personality you like him so far. I know they say “don't judge a book by it's cover" but just by seeing his tounge perircing and his smoking that he's so afar an okay guy? You could just tell by his trouble for last year and his new ways this year that he's not going in a clear direction.
DeleteBut don't you think his smoking is bad influence to Sean?
Deletebut he has tongue rings and smokes he isn't very bright in school and also is a bad boy!
Deleteif you had a friend they started smoking has tongue piercings and would get in trouble for a whole year would you still like them ?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Yes it is. He knows Sean doesn't like him smoking. He knows Sean doesn't want to smoke even. If he keeps putting that thought in his head, he is influencing him.
DeleteBut Its Seans choice to take one or not . You cant judge someone because they have in there mouth ! You have to know them . Did Scott really do anything wrong ?
DeleteWill Scott and Sean remain friends? Yea i think sean and scott will remain friend because what they went through hey just can end that its a special bond between people it would be devastating if they called it quits on each other so yes i still think that they will be friends still in grade 8 they might have some bumps on the road be still friends
ReplyDeleteI don't think getting in trouble is a special, bond. It's something that they have I common to do, it can't be special when one is trying to go another way. That's how you know they can't really be friends with their ew paths.
DeleteBut sean wants a brand new start
Deletei agree with jackie
Deletethe only bond they had was fooling around but now sean wants to change his attitude into a good boy while scott is becoming into a bad boy !!!! no more bond between them
2) I think that Scott and David both are a big problem to Sean because Scott smokes and last year he got trouble everytime and this year for him might be the same and David sometimes get mad at Sean because Sean was touching his chair and David got mad at him and when they came in class he was helping Sean for not getng in trouble.
ReplyDelete1:According to his behaviour, reputation and bad habits I don't like Scott. Scott is doing things that he is not supposed to. This would also influence his friends. Friends are supposed to help and care about their friend rather than getting them in trouble and making them a bad person.
ReplyDeleteScott did help Sean when he was sad , they told each other jokes . What do you think Scott will be in the future
DeleteCan't really tell about the future but I guess that Scott did help Sean but also he influenced him to do things that would get in trouble. Ture that Scott made him laugh when he was sad. though after they became friends they were mostly seen in the office. while clearly states that they can create problems for each other.
Deletewell the book doesnt tell anything about scott influencing that beacuse sean is the fool the fighter the shorfuse but beacuse of him smoking it doesnt mean he infuenced sean.
Deletewhat are the things that Scott isn't supposed to do in your opinion?
Delete#2 I think David and Scott are both the problems because David could get into another fight with Sean and Scott might influence Sean to smoke.Sean smoking could kill Sean if he started smoking .But David would act tough big deal
ReplyDelete2. The bigger problem would be... Scott. Yes I know David yells at Sean like every 5 minutes. But since Sean DOES want a fresh new start, and David is "his ticket to the good side" (David gets special treatment). By the look of the cover, it does seem like David likes to play basketball, and we already know Sean does too. Apparently when him and Scott got in to a lot of trouble. And the fact that Scott now smokes and got a odd piercing. So yeah, Scott is the bigger problem. Remember that Scott's with David to not get in to trouble. By the look of it, they may just become friends.
ReplyDeletewell the book cover does show a connection with david liking basketball beacuse if you dont like basketball you wont wear the most expensive basketball and you wont get 3 shots in net ina a row.
DeleteI think both of them are the problem for Sean because Sean and Scott are friends and because their friends they have gone through allot with each other and still can with this new attitude of Scott. But then again there's David and David's short temper can get Scott in trouble BIG TIME. But if I had to choose one I would say David, Sean can stay away form Scott so that way he doesn't have double the trouble. And because David's in a wheel chair and all he could get Sean suspended in a snap. I know Sean says he only has a day or two to show him around the school with no problems along the way, but he go in trouble less in 30 min for "apparently" beating a guy in a wheelchair up.
ReplyDeleteI think Scott is a bigger problem for Sean . Scott and sean were once friends and sean was always getting in trouble when Scott was around . But why ? Sean didn't seem like he wanted to do those things so i personally think Scott made Sean give into peer pressure . David saved Sean from getting in trouble by a teacher and although he has a short temper he still seems like he wants to be Sean's pal .
ReplyDeleteBut what about David? His short temper can affect Sean
DeleteThat is true but not as much as Scotts bad habits
Deletewell how do you know that when ever scott is around sena always gets into trouble it only happened once.
DeleteSean said it at the begging of the story
DeleteI think that David is a bigger problem for Sean. David and his short temper can get Sean into lots of trouble. While Scott's smoking won't really do anything to Sean. Scott's smoking is only going to harm himself.
ReplyDeleteWhat if David doesn't get his temper on Sean like mrs.bruke.
DeleteMrs. Burke didn't get her temper on Sean because David told her that it was his fault. But that was because he had to look nice. I don't know if you have noticed but David gets his temper out on Sean ALL THE TIME.
Delete2. I say Scott is the bigger problem because smoking can lead to addiction and he can also peer pressure Sean into doing so. Even though David has a really short temper that's much better then smoking.
ReplyDeleteWould you snap at David for his short temper?
DeleteYa probably a lot of times
DeleteYes That is true but If David gave you that kinda stuff would u take it or go at him full force
DeleteI don't think that I would be a kind of persons friend who always gets in trouble and specially smokes. It is not good for him or his friends that are around him or hanging out him him. Even if he saves me from getting in trouble, I would not be his friend. I mean that in grade 7 he got in a lot of trouble, and made others get in trouble too. So what were the chances that he would not get in trouble or get anyone else in trouble in grade 8.
ReplyDelete3) I think that Sean and Scott will still be friends but not as the same as last here because I think that Sean and David will become closer friends because they have class's together and he's his guide.even thou they don't like each other i still think that they will get along.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete3) I dont think that Scott and Sean will remain friends because Scott might get in deep trouble if the principle finds out that Scott smokes and I mostly think that David and Sean will be friends.
ReplyDelete1) Scott is not a good influence to Sean and others. Sean smokes, and has tongue piercings at such a young age. He is only 13 and he`s not at the age to being doing such things like this. Scott also got Sean into a lot of trouble the year before, Basically im trying to say that Scott ruined Sean reputation. Sean reputation can his future if he countinues to hang out with Scott. Although Scott is a bad influence, there was one point that when Sean offered a fight to David, Scott told him not to fight with him. Also, Scott has loyalty towards Sean everytime he`s taken to McCulley`s office. I understand that Scott still has that good in him, but Scott and Sean are friends , they would stand up for each other, it doesn't mean that Scott is a good influence. I don't like Scott and his attitude because he sets a bad example to his friend, he could mess up Sean`s future.
ReplyDeleteAnswer 1: I don't like Scott at all. He has no good reputation and according to the text he smokes. This is an extreme bad influence to his friends and students. I don't think Scott is a person to hang out with knowing he will make you get in trouble some how.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't think Scott and Sean can remain friends, or go back like they were back in grade 7. With Scott's new ways and Sean desire to stay out of trouble in grade 8. They both clearly have different paths, and neither want to end up in both of each other paths or ways. So with their new selves and such. I don't think they can either remain friends.
ReplyDelete#3 i think Sean is going to leave Scott because Sean wants to have a good reputation this year so he doesn't want to get in trouble or have any fights.
ReplyDelete3. No, I do not think Sean an Scott will remain friends. From the beginning of the text, it said that Sean wanted a fresh start. From Scott's latest actions (smoking, piercings etc.) He may just be the wrong way to go. Also Scott doesnt play basket ball. And I predict David does, so maybe Sean and David will be spending a lot more time together.
ReplyDelete3. That's a big NO they are going down much different paths soon Sean will realize that and will probably dump him as a friend
ReplyDeleteSo your saying that Sean and David will be come best friends?
DeleteBut they were like best friends even tho he smokes they have been together all grade 7 they went through thick and thin its gonna be hard to end that
DeleteTrue but if he knows what's best for him he will do it even if it means dumping his best friend
DeleteMaybe omid never know I think there friendship will progress maybe not best friends but they will be better friends
Deletewill it come to that are maybe they will still be friends but sean will help scott stop his addictions or they just wont hang as much
Delete2: In my point of view I think Scott is a bigger problem for Sean rather than David. David is a problem for Sean too though, Scott smoking can effect Sean if not by influence but still physically. For example that Sean is not smoking but he is still beside Scott while he is smoking that can effect Sean's health as well as Scott's. Scott as well as a really bad reputation according to his grade 7 year.If Scott and Sean are seen to gather the teachers and staff may keep their thoughts about Sean and Scott the same which will get their reputation lower.
ReplyDeleteDavid's short temper means that there would be more problems. Don't you think that David would be a bigger problem???
DeleteYou never know what if Sean and David become friends they may share their problems and David won't get his temper on him.
DeleteI think that Sean and Scott are not going to be friend. Sean is trying his best to stay out of trouble, and then there is Scott who has already started smoking. They are doing 2 completely opposite things.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNO i don't like scott at all! he might be seans bff but he smokes, has tongue rigs and acts all like a bad boy. he might like it but i hate it, he thinks he's all sooooo cool and popular but he is just ruining his self.
ReplyDeleteyou might thinks so what if he smokes, but he is only in grade 8 and i don't think he should be doing stuff like that.
if he was in our school i wouldn't even come near him beacuse he is a bad boy !!!! smoking is not cool no matter what and he should now that.
GROW UP !!!
In grade 7 Sean and Scott's reputation got low cause they got in lots of trouble. What if Scott actually helps Sean and quits smoking would you like him then. or not by judging is reputation?
Delete1) I do not like Scott; he is a bad influence on kids. He was the one who got Sean in trouble every time last year, smoking at this age that is crazy. That is horrible for him and kids around him. I wouldn’t be his friend before making a friend you should know how they are. But then again it is his fault, it is his irresponsible parents who let him hang out with those trouble makers. We don’t know he might be in a gang and he is turning Sean into a trouble maker.
ReplyDelete2) I think cot is going to be a bigger problem for him. David is only his friend until this host thing is over. Then he can’t really get away from Scott he is his best friend or was and that is going to be a major problem maybe when he stops being his friend scoot and his buddies are going to bully Sean.
3) No I don’t think so, Sean wants to be on the basketball team, so doesn’t want to get in trouble so he won’t go to Scott. On the cover there is Sean and David, so they might practice together for the rest of the year.
excellent
Delete1. What about when Scott tried to get Scott out of the fight? Was that not trying to get him OUT of trouble?
Delete2. agreed
3.agreed
sorry i didnt get you there.
DeleteSean*
Deletehe didnt know what was really happening.
Deletei dont think scott and sean will be the same friends as before. sean might be able to change himself into a good kid but scott is doing the opposite! scott is ruining himself when sean is trying to fix himself both are going on different paths.
ReplyDeleteRight now.. the bigger problem is Scott. Sure David yells a lot, but I think that later on in the book, Sean and David might become good friends. Scott however is a bad influence. David can be mean and can yell to hundreds of students in the school, Scott can smoke in front of hundreds of young students. Smoking has a larger affect than being rude and tough to other people. Scott is going to get himself into grave trouble if he is caught giving cigarettes or smoking cigarettes in front of students. Looking back at the cover of the book, Sean and David will be good friends playing basketball. In my opinion, Sean should try to to keep away from Scott as much as he can. If he stays close to Scott, another problem can occur and people might "see wrong" and think Sean was smoking with Scott as well.
ReplyDeleteAnswer 2; I think the bigger problem for Sean is David and his temper. I think this because his temper will cause Sean into problems as what happened on the first day of school. The whole entire situation was caused by his high temper and anger. If this continues i think trouble for Sean would not decrease at all. Scott is just a smoker I don't think Sean would care because Scott is just harming his own self.
ReplyDeleteWho is a bigger problem for Sean? David and his short temper or Scott and his smoking?
ReplyDelete-I think Scott is a bigger problem because Scott is not afraid of trouble, and since Scott smokes and acts like a punk he will be an influence on Sean, A bad influence. David has a short temper at little things but he will not get you introuble because everyone feels such pity for him because he is in a wheel chair, and so far Sean and David look like they will be good friends.
David isn't afraid to get into trouble either he started a fight on the first day I say he isn't afraid of trouble
DeleteYeah but David is different because he is in a wheel chair, People take pity on him for that, they think he is a good kid just because he is in a wheel chair, they stereotype him.
DeleteI think Sean and Scott can be friends in grade 8 too, if they stay out of trouble as Sean wants. Scott smoking doesn't mean that he can't change him self or he cannot be a good friend. As far as I know Scott does care about Sean an that was the reason Scott warned him on the first day of school before getting in fight with David.
ReplyDeleteBut Scott doesn't care about if he gets into trouble Sean does
DeleteDoesn't smoking lead to an addiction?
DeleteScott trying to get Sean to stay out of trouble won't always mean he's always going to stay out of trouble too. This is just the first day of school. There's still many days to go. Who knows, Scott might get himself into trouble just like he did in gr. 7
DeleteRochelle: Though Scott does care about what Sean wants. this is why scott helped sean stay out of troublle on the first day.
DeleteTamana: you can get addicted to smoking if you have done if for long Scott had just started and if Scott wants he can get rid of his addiction.
Pooja: Well its not just about the first day on the 2nd day too. remember scott made San come out of the school property so Sean wouldn't have to face trouble.
2) In my opinion Scott is the bigger problem to Sean. I understand that there`s David in the middle with his temper, but David and Sean are having a really odd relationship at the moment. David is one of Sean problem, but basically Sean should just be nice, show David around the school, and he wouldn't be in as much trouble with David. Now Scott is Sean`s best friend. With Scott revealing to Sean that he smokes and has tongue piercings, Sean and Scott now has separate paths. Sean wants to have a new reputation, and then there`s Scott who started to smoke and choose the wrong the choice. With Scott decision this is Sean`s biggest problem now because who knows what can happen, Sean can end up following Scott`s footsteps then mess up his future, or there friendship could end. Many things are now up ahead with Sean and Scott`s different paths.
ReplyDeleteI don't think sean and scott will be friends in grade 8 . I predict that they will drift apart not because they were split up and Sean wants a new start butt because david is Seans new friend and Scott doesn't want to be hanging around people who are weak . I think scott thinks there going to make his reputation of a bad boy disappear
ReplyDeleteI think that Scott and his smoking is a bigger problem. David and his short temper is not something you should worry about compared to Scott and his smoking. As you all know that smoking is not good for you and others. So I rather chose to stay away from a big problem like Scott and specially his smoking.
ReplyDeletewell i think scott and david are both trouble for sean because you never know when david will be fist pumping andready to beat you up and you never know when trouble is coming to you when you are standing with scott.like if someone see scott offering sean a ciggarete guess what sena is geting in troble too and david is a even more nerve picking he is not going to get in trouble beacuse not no thinks he can be a trouble maker beacuse of his disablility so i think they are both trouble for sean.
ReplyDelete3) The way the story is narrowing too, I think that Sean and Scott`s friendship would end in Grade 8. Sean wants a new reputation, but with Scott as your best friend, just setting a bad influence, Sean has to make that decision if there friendship should continue. As a prediction I don`t think that there friendship will countinue due to there seperate paths.
ReplyDelete1. No, I don't like Scott because he's a person known for troublemaking and doesn't really care about his reputation, behaviour or image towards anyone. So he could also get anyone else in trouble. Based off on how Scott's started his teenage life, it's easy to assume that he'll be getting addicted to a lot more drugs and losing control of himself. In that type of a situation it wouldn't be safe to be present around nor is it something I prefer or enjoy
ReplyDelete2. I think David and his short temper is more of a problem than Scott's smoking because though the smoking is harmful to David - health wise - it still can be that David loses his temper and creates another fight. Plus Sean and Scott know each other pretty well so it would be easier for Sean to open up in front of Scott than it would before someone totally new to him and the school.
3. I don't think Sean and Scott will be able to remain friends because now that Sean has become David's host, he doesn't really have the time to spend with his friend. it could be that Sean still wants to keep the friendship but because of David, they are kind of pulled apart. Also, now that a new year has started, Sean and Scott want to go in different directions.

ReplyDeleteAnswer 3: I really don't think Sean and Scott would remain friends as before. I think this because Sean is trying his best to become a good person he needs a fresh start. On the other hand Scott is smoking taking the path he really shouldn't take. If this keeps up both would obviously think different. So I don't think they would get along.
ReplyDeleteWait... I changed my mind :3
ReplyDeleteAfter reading some posts, my mind keeps having a war with itself. So...
1. I think... If Sean was saved by him, and invited to be his friend, Scott wouldn't be that bad a kid, he just wants to befriend people.
But, he is a bad influence for those who hang out with him, as Scott is the type to get in trouble easily.
Honestly, now that I think about it... A lot of kids play with their lives and actions, not caring that it's their actions that will unravel their futures, and I'm friends with quite a few of them.
If only Scott didn't smoke, i would probably be friends with him, maybe only buddies, but who knows? I would probably have been his friend in grade 7, but as soon as he pulls out a cigarette, and starts breathing and contaminating the air, no, I would be outta there in a few seconds. Same with my other friends. Unless they were forced into it or had like, a really PERSONAL and SERIOUS reason, I would help them. However, Scott did it for fun.
I think that Sean and Scott might remain friends even in grade 8. Sean and Scott are best friends and they care about each other. Scott helped Sean from getting in trouble. That proves that he cares about Sean, and I don't think that he or Sean would like to break this friendship.
ReplyDeletedon't you think they would go in separate directions because Sean wants to be a better person for the new year?
DeleteBut Sean wants a fresh start? Do you think Scott will allow that? I like Scott, but personally at some points he will probably be a handful. Plus it seems David and Sean will be spending a long time. Not only as his guide but i think basket ball too.
DeleteI think Scott is a bigger problem for Sean. I think that because he knows that smoking has horrible ripple effects on his body and those around him, especially for a guy his age. He knows that his friend is trying to stay out of trouble and yet he smokes every time he's near him. Scott is merging on the path of the dark side when Sean is trying to put all his bad from grade 7 in his past, their friendship is just not the same no more..
ReplyDeleteTheir friendship contradicts itself
DeleteI don't like Scott period. He is someone I never want to meet in my life. He is a very bad influence not to mention he could end up putting me in jail for something in ever done. For real, he could even kill me. Scott is a no good guy, getting caught in the wrong group, doing drugs and influencing Sean to do them too. I'd stay away from people like that. In my opinion David is miles away better then Scott. Even with his short temper, in a few days he would leave me alone. For the few days he could get me out of trouble like last time and we just be chillin the whole time. Not to mention who wouldn't take advantage of David. I know I would indeed.
ReplyDeleteI think slowly Sean and Scott would drift apart from each other destroying there relationship. They wouldn't do what they did in grade 7 but instead hi and bye. I think that's the only commutation they would do.
Jail that sounds dramatic?!?!
DeleteThe friendship of Scott and Sean has changed. Friendship always changes. I don't think that their friendship will be the same as it was in grade 7. Smoking at a young age is a crazy idea and I think further on it will create a big problems, starting with Sean separating himself from Scott.
ReplyDeleteChange is the only constant in this world
Deletewell i dont think scott and sean will be friends beacuse scott has tried making sean join him again by getting sean out of trouble they wont be friends because sena doesnt want to be the trouble maker this year and he is trying that and i am sure he will succeed beacuse he has learned his lesson from last year, they will be friends but not like last year.
ReplyDeleteI am on David's side. Though he's vicious, I can tell Scott would be more dangerous to be with in the future. Scott, with his smoking and laid back, fun personality is bound to get thrown behind bars, for a few hours, honestly. David, on the other hand may have his quick temper, but since, I'm guessing they have basketball as a hobby, they may as well egg each other on to chasing their dreams.
