1)From a scale to 1 to 10 I would rate Jake 6 out of 10 because he says that Dan and Rob are the cowards but they are actually finished with this cheat thing. Because the reason is that he is the one that is not telling Mr Chen that he is the one who gave her the answers to the mid term and now he is saying that it was Sarah's fault that she is the one who shared the answers with her friends, That is a cowardly thing that he is doing so that is why I would rate him a 6 out of 10.
ReplyDelete1) In my opinion i don't say that Jake is cowardly because most of us in that situation would just leave it alone and not confess and wait to see if you get off scoot free or in deep trouble so by my definition and point of view i don't think Jake is cowardly i think hes doing what most of us would do and that is wait and see if your finished or not. But...... I do see some that is is being a little of a hypocrite because hes saying that Rob and Dan a being cowards but Jake is doing the same at the moment so Jake is not a coward but a little of a hypocrite

Delete#1) I don't think Jake is being cowardly, I just think he's doing what he thinks best for himself in this very predicament. I mean as soon as Jake heard Sara's name being called down to Mr. Chen's office, because they barely know each other, he almost immediately thought Sara (Colgate Ad) Collier was going to rat him out to bail herself out of trouble. But she didn't. So right now I think Jake is in a state of confusion, not cowardness.

Delete10/10 is Jake's coward level. To start it, Jake gave Sarah the wrong answer and then when Sarah got called down to the office. He went down and told her and begged her to not to tell. then he goes saying that Rob and Dan are cowards. He is a hypocrite and a coward. He is no better than Dan. Dan threw Sarah straight under the bus and then he says that he's the hero. Everybody is coward except Rob, Sarah and Katie.

DeleteSuhaib Jake didn't lie, he did his part which was getting his sisters mid-term, he didn't know it was wrong and i'm pretty sure if he knew he wouldn't have gave it. He has an obsession for Sarah and i don't think he would want or on purposely get her into trouble.
Delete1. Jake is Very Cowardly. He is trying to impress a girl that he is obsessed with, and he got Sarah in trouble. He is being a coward by not confessing to his mistakes. He's very afraid of Sarah ratting him out, and he's afraid to confess. I say that Jake is crowardly because he's basically the "Captain" of the entire cheating scheme, and the fact that Sarah, Rob, Dan getting caught. Sarah is in serious consequences right now because of Jake. A "Captain" always goes down with its ship. In this Case Jake is the Captain, and the fact that everyone else had to suffer through consequences because of him, he needs to man up and confess that this entire cheating scheme started because of him.

Sarah excepted the answer because she was given the windows of oppurtunity. (Which tricked her!) DeleteAbby: Here's the thing, we say things that we're not able to do. That means we would say we will tell the truth. But then watch, you won't right away. For example: speech competition. We write speeches about things that we can't do anything about. It's the only way for us to look good. Remember when Mr. Cheney told us about Eden not winning the speech competition last year? And they were about to do that Tamana this year? It's because the school wants basic topics like drugs, the environment, etc. It would somehow make our school look "good". But we write about it only because that's what the teachers want. We barely do anything to help the environment.

But at the same time it isn't his fault She was the one who was dumb enough to cheat and get caught. Why would you follow the answer sheet word for word isn't that obvious. I wouldn't call him cowardly for not bailing her out because it's her own fault she got caught. And that's why she still didn't Rat him out because she knew it was her own fault and had to suffer the consequence and its principle once you get caught you on your own. ReplyDeleteAnswer # 1: Jake is cowardly from what I assume so far throughout this book.Jake is afraid of Danny or Rob for snitching on him because he was the one who gave Sarah the answers, and from that Sarah passed them on to her friends. This whole situation started off with Jake. No cheating wouldn't have happened if Jake didn't give the answers in first place and Sarah shouldn't have took the answers. I know most students in the same position will do the same and not tell the truth, but I BELIEVE that it is called cowardliness indeed. Hiding a lie can put so many other lies to it, consequences are getting even worst. In this situation Jake is being Coward for not telling the truth and being scared of getting snitched by anyone. he is being a coward for not confessing and running away from this situation.

ReplyDelete- Jake knows by now that Sarah is taking all the heat for him but somehow Jake still tries to convince himself that she has some diabolical plan after she's done. I think his cowardly character comes from him being so confused and using his life experiences on video games. Actually I don't think he is cowardly, because almost all of us would do the same if we were in his shoes but I have faith in Jake. I think he will come around soon, maybe save Sarah, admit that he gave the answers to Sarah. Regardless I don't think he is cowardly because almost all of us would do the same in his shoes, we like to say that we wouldn't be reality we would.
It's a good point that all of us would be quaking in our shoes if we were him, but that doesn't mean everyone is/is not a coward.

What I mean is that not everyone is as cowardly as Jake, (still cowardly, but to a different extent, be it lesser or greater) but no one here has bragged about their bravery..
As I said I have faith that Jake will come around later, save Sarah maybe turn himself in. I don't think he is cowardly I just think he is very confused of why Sarah is helping him and why he hasn't stepped up yet. I mean Rob had a moment where he felt like he was re-united, tranquilized, re-moralized and I think Jake will have a similiar outbreak. Jake isn't a coward he is just a confused gamer in his new game Reality.

Yes I do I don't think that he will just burst into hero and take all the attention being heroic but I think he will turn himself in. I mention his gamer life because in the book he references different levels of a video game as he tries to explain his situation to himself. Suhaib he thinks he is a coward, but I think that anger with himself will turn him around for the better, have faith in Jake.

Yeah he was a bit in the beggining when he told Sarah not to tell anyone that he gave her the mid-term answrers, but he thinks that it's dopey that Rob and Dan just gave her up and left the blame for her to take. Jake thinks he's a coward beacsue he also thinks he leaving the blame for Sara, and that Sara is sticking up for him, which he's wondering why she is. So to be honest, Jake is not a coward really if he's thinking what he should do about this situation. Because he's probably not going to let Sara take the blame for him, or let her contenuie to.

Jake didn't know in the beginning that Sarah was taking the blame for him. He later found out that and immediately thought about what was he going to do.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Jake is beyond pitiful. Someone, please get him help.
Excuse my oncoming rant, but honestly, he thinks that none of this was -at all- his fault! Its unbelievable that he's trying to convince himself that this was all "Colgate smile Sarah Collier"'s fault! He's so sure of himself that he's the victim here. He had even admitted it; There were no other seats at the library. He had offered her his sister's midterm answers, and she did not beg for it, either. She accepted his clearly offered answers, because he insisted she did. Where Jake was most certainly at fault, and he's gonna be in heaps of dog poop if he truly believes that "She was a pretty girl." is a valid excuse.
Suddenly, Knight-In-Shining-Armor Jake is not so high and mighty when he realizes that they were false answers and ROYALLY screwed up. He decides to completely hurl Sarah's body under the TANK, not even bus, anymore. He does not hesitate to let Sarah take the flame and refuses to put out the fire at his expense. He dares even crawl up to her on his knees, pleading her to not reveal that he was most definitely the one at fault. But, I wonder how proud of himself he is.
Jake's character seems to be able to grasp the fact that what he's doing is not-so noble. However, he refuses to allow himself process that information halfway into his thoughts and denies it fruitlessly. I like how Koss did that, it gives depth to the character's personality.
Though I don't particularly like his cowardice (clearly), I like the character's design nonetheless :P
Jake is (to me) 99.99% cowardly, and I'm hoping that that 0.01 will help him grow a pair in the end. -.-

Nonetheless one time I did feel like this, on the first day of school. Grade 1, Melody Village Junior School. I remember walking in terrified of the school and what was in it and when my mom left I bursted out into a niagara of tears. All eyes were on me as my teacher introduced me to the class. After my teacher gave me a lollipop I began to wipe the snot and tears of my cheek with edge of my sleeve and I started to realize it wasn't so bad.

ReplyDelete1. Jake is not very cowardly. I'm pretty sure anyone would be scared about getting ratted out if they did something like this. It's okay for him to be like this. Jake is doing what he thinks is right. If you had given the answers to someone (and that person ends up getting caught), you wouldn't want to be thrown under the bus. If you want to say he's a coward, then you can call yourself one if you were in the same situation.

Delete2) There once was a incident like I was Jake and that was when I was in school and it was music class and I was at the back watching the musical performance and something inevitably I dropped all the work and posters down behind the piano. Then almost everybody saw me and including Mrs Merraro and I was shocked and I was saying that I never dropped the posters and the work down and they just slipped and Mrs Merraro looked ridicule. I can learn that when something bad happens to you and everyone is watch you can feel that you are very anxious just like for Jake like when everyone finds out that he is the one who gave the answers to Sarah then everyone will look at Jake and they will be ridiculed.

ReplyDelete2.I felt like Jake a lot of times when i was younger. I use to be really terrified and shy. I was scared when I first came to Beaumonde because I was new and I never knew anybody. I made a friend in a few days. I got my friend in trouble for making funny faces at the wrong time. It wasn't as serious compared to what Jake got himslef into, butg just to compare the two scenarios. I was a coward becuase I was to shy and afraid to confess. I thought people would riducle me. Eventually I confess that I did it, and that things didnt turn out so bad. I just got a timeout :P

ReplyDelete- I Only feel like that when I do something dumb and I think everyone can relate to that situation, where you do something dumb and a teacher is in the room and you feel like everyone's watching you. Or when you miss the wide open shot outside you feel like everyone's looking at you with this like how face and everyone either laughs or screams how, I think that's how Jake feels.

Delete2) There has not been many times were i was put under the spotlight but the only time i recall that i was was probably in grade 3 Ms.Jacks/Rodens Class I was on the carpet and i stabbed kyle with a pencil and so that cause me some attention and then he started bleeding the whole room was looking at me and the teacher yelled and kids watched and i was being ridiculed plus i got sent to ms.Jackson and i was the attention for the day all eyes on me a huge spotlight and that was probably the only time i was put under the spotlight
ReplyDeleteI would say that Jake is very cowardly. Like about 99%. He knows that he is the one responsible, because he gave Sarah those papers. And then just because they got caught, he told Sarah not to tell anyone that he was the one who gave her the test papers. And then he thinking about what excuses he should make if Sarah tells on him to the principal. Plus he was also very scared when he heard some people say that Sarah was only aloud to school if she tells the principal where she got last years answers from, and Sarah came to school on Monday, he thought that she told on him. But I did say that he is a 99% coward, because he did have courage to take the paper from his sister's room and give it to Sarah.

DeleteI agree with you. But when I said that Jake knows that he is the one responsible, I never meant 100% responsible, I meant around 30%-40% responsible. It is true that if Sarah didn't give it to her friends then she would have been the only one in trouble or maybe failed, because she had the wrong answers. Sarah is also the responsible for the situation that their they are in. Jake, Sarah, Dan and Rob(maybe also Katie) are all responsible for the situation that they are in right. They all have a different percentage of responsibility in this cheat situation.

He begs and pleads Sarah not to tell on him, then he leaves her and throws her underneath the bus, letting her scratch, claw and suffer her way out of this dilemma. All blame is put on her. I think jake is very very cowardly from I what I know so far. he's letting a stranger(Sarah), take the fall for him, when he's responsible for all this. I'd say 10/10. I just hate jake in general. He never takes risks, and when he gets into trouble he can't defend him self. He has to let somebody else take the fall for him. Jake is running away from him problems.
2) yeah, I was playing basketball with a lot of people. Maybe around 8 people
, 4 v 4. I did the dumbest move and shot it so embarrassing, I just went home. I felt so like jake that day. A coward.

So I got in a fight and the and the principal, she caled me up to the class room. I felt kind a cowerd but i was not scard of anything even now. onless it is a wild amimal.
2: the time i could remember was when i went to a tournament with my team and i didn't think i'd do nice and i felt like i'd be mocked. Buy at the beginning i started out great and the momentum picked up so barely even noticed the crowd so i ended up really not caring because when you play you don't really focus on the crowd unless they are cheering you on.....

Jake never actually put some real thought to this situation. He coulod of ask questions like "What happens if Sarah gets caught?" "What if the answers change from last years exams?" "Would giving the answers to Sarah make her like me or use me?" Its Obvious that Jake hasn't thought this situation through because if he did, he would of never gave Sarah the answers. ReplyDelete2. Ehm... Often, I'd feel nervous about showing people my drawings. There's always a thought buried deep in the back of my brain, poking and prodding me, and I get super irritated at it :P
ReplyDeleteI get worried they won't like it as much, or that I won't be able to reach the person's high expectations of my capabilities.
In the end, I don't like thinking about it, cause I know if I'm scared to show people my drawings and get proper feedback, I won't improve. Therefore, I'll just get it over with and show 'em.
It always comes back though. I hate it, but meh. You gotta live with it!
When you get feedback you get better like the saying you learn from your mistake. if you learn once what the consequence is, you probably don't want to do it again

ReplyDeleteJake refers to Dan and Rob as cowards for throwing Sarah underneath the bus. Jake was astonished by the fact that the principal sentenced a suspension for Sarah but not Dan and Rob. Why was Sarah in the most torment? Jake had a strong feeling that Sarah spat out his name to Mr. Principal when she was called down to the office. However, no voice was heard on the PA system. Jake was running through all of the details in his mind. He then came to a point where he began to wonder whether he would be considered a coward as well... Dan and Rob let Sarah rot. Jake believes that's very cowardly of them. But that makes him a coward as well does it not? Jake is now well aware that Sarah didn't rat him out. Furthermore, he is still in the thought of why Sarah would do something like that. Jake isn't even sure if Sarah knows whether or not he's in her class. If Sarah saved Jake, there must have been a reason. Jake is the root of the predicament... isn't he doing the same thing as Dan and Rob? Trying to save himself by forgetting Sarah, not knowing her at all, not gonna peep out a word? I believe that this makes Jake as cowardly as Rob and Dan. Jake might be the root of the dilemma but he still plays a similar role as the other cowards. Dan and Rob ratted out Sarah. Jake however, in the beginning of the story decides to be a wimp by begging and pleading Sarah not to tell or mention his name in any of this. Now that Jake see's what trouble he has put her in by telling her to not tell on him, Jake decides to stay completely hushed and tranquil about the whole story. This makes him a coward big time. Sarah saves Jake when he crawls up to her begging not to rat him out, and when the time came where Sarah was in need of help, no one was there for her. Not even Jake. Jake thought she brought it all on herself by sharing the test with the other two boys.. How cowardly is Jake? a 9/10. a little more than Rob and Dan. Out of 10, I would rate them both an 8/10. All Rob and Dan did was say her name. Jake on the other hand, pleaded Sarah not to tell, and when she didn't he decides to leave her at just that, throw her in the lake, and not chirp out a word when she needs the help. Not a loyal friend at all. Not even a friend if you ask me.

ReplyDeleteI only feel that when i do something stupid and the teacher is in the room and you get the feeling everyone is looking at you.Like the time when i was playing after school i tried doing some 360 while playing basketball and i fell and felt embarrassed so instead of everyone making fun of me i just went home and i felt like Jake.
I have never been in a situation like this before. But if I was then I would tell the principal that I was the one that should be blamed. I know that consequences can be bad, but I should have thought about that before. And anyways, I could bare the consequence, but I can't live a life knowing that someone else got punished because of me.

ReplyDelete2. We all make mistakes. And sometimes we do crazy stuffs. Well I know sometimes I do crazy things.I remember there was this one time where my big sister and I woke up really early and was very hungry.My mom wasn't up as yet. So my sister and I decided to make breakfast for ourselves. So she fried eggs for us and then told me to look at them until she go for the mails from the mail box. Within that couple of minutes she was gone, the eggs looked like it was ready for eating, so i took the frying pan off from the stove and placed it on top of the kitchen counter. That was a huge mistake though. As soon as my sister came inside and saw where the pan was, she started yelling at me. When she lift up the pan from the counter-top, there was a mark of the pan left burnt on the counter-top.I felt so bad i started to panic, i was so scared of telling my mom. When mom got up, surprisingly my sister told her that everything was all her fault.At that moment i felt like Jake.I felt it wasn't my fault but is should've help her out with telling mom.I felt like I should've been apart of taking the blame. And I feel that Jake should've been apart of taking the blame for cheating. That would've been a little better than just staying quiet.
ReplyDeleteHaha. This isn't really in the same context as Jake and the book "The Cheat" But one time where I was placed on the spot and everyone was watching me would be at the speech competition. I keep referring to this example a lot because I felt a whole stack of emotions at that moment. It relates to Jake's position because of my topic. I took a very controversial side of my topic and I was well aware that many people wouldn't be happy with my position. As it happened, I knew that I wasn't exactly going to be ridiculed but I was definitely aware that people would have conversation and debate upon my position and the way I interpret the idea and topic. And I was right. I was asked many questions about my speech and was both agreed with, and mostly disagreed with by the audience.

ReplyDelete1. In my opinion i say that Jake is not cowardly. i say this because if you were in jakes shoe's you would feel the same way.
Let’s say that you gave someone the answers to a mid-term, and then they got caught you would automatically start thinking that they will snitch on you. So this is instinct not cowardness.
Now if you are saying that Jake is a coward because he let Sarah take all the blame for him that’s not true. Because rob and Dan bailed her out so wouldn't they be cowards instead. Just because he didn’t become a hero and say it was because of him that’s wrong! So what if he didn’t tell Mr. Chen he was scared and wouldn't you also be?!?!?!?!?
2. Every time you come out of your house there are always eyes that are staring at you and a time like that was for everyone this was the first day of kindergarten and leaving your parents for 3 hours!!!! in the afternoon or morning. i can still remember the first day i came to school and i see all these other kids in bright colours and enjoying their tricycles. so my mom and dad are about to sneak away when i caught them and ask them where they were going after they told me about "school" i started crying and creating a tsunami with my tears. All the eyes are staring at me so i stop crying.
3. Something that I learned is that never ever judge anything before trying it. Yes we learned this in grade 1 and kindergarten Etc. but then we forgot about it, now let’s speak the truth how many people actually take out a book and not look at the cover and choose it, or not eat something at a restaurant because it looks or smells bad, and maybe even sometimes think bad things about a person that you don’t know just based on their looks.
I thought that school was the worst, and that grade 7 and 8 would be the hardest grades EVER. But now I went through grade 7 and passed and I’m doing a good job in grade 8 too, oh and I love school now I want to come every day but I want my Saturday and Sundays too.
Just like in Jake’s situation he thinks that Sarah will rat on him but that’s not true (not true yet?) he thought something else but it turned out not be the same.
A very simple lesson to follow would be...
ReplyDeleteDo the right thing. If you know that there are two ways to get something done, think of both ways carefully. In this case, Sarah could have passed the test if she wanted to. She could have chosen the hard way, and study to actually learn and pass with a grade. She also had the choice to not put any effort at all, not take the time to learn, and cheat getting a result of perfect at the end. Cheating seems easy.. It's getting out of it when your caught is hard. Think carefully of both situations before doing something. Don't do something that you know you would get into enormous trouble for. Don't take that risk if you know that there is a better way to get it done.
I think that Jake is being a coward because one way or another Sarah would rat him out him. Why would Sarah protect a guy she barely knows?

If he snitches on himself he wouldn't have anything to worry about like Sarah snitching on him or even blackmailing him. If I was in Jake shoes I would confess to giving out the answers so Sarah would get in trouble for not giving out the name of who gave her the answers and to also ruin her reputation in school.. "Sarah Collier Colgate Smile begs a nerd for his sisters last year Mid-term exams" That would totally ruin her reputation and next she might think about the consequences or whether its worth it or not
I've had a similur situation where there was not a whole bunch of people staring at me, but just had a strong feeling of gluit inside of me when my brother took a balme for me when there was an accident of our air conditioner. I pushed it down from my floor and it must have been a whole lot fragile then i remember because the next second I knew it was out side. On the ground. Broken and shatterd into peices. I didnt know what to do, and I knew I WAS going to get into trouble. So I put all the blame on my brother. Told my mom that he did it, and he got in trouble. But I felt bad, dumb, letting him take the banter that I put him in. So I confessed, and I got as twice the trouble for what I did, and what I just did to my brother.
ReplyDeleteAnswer # 3: The lesson I have learnt is that cheating is easy but facing the consequences once you get caught are really harsh. Think before you act to any situation and then apply it. If you know you the one who started the situation be honest and face it for telling the truth. Don't act as if you weren't responsible because that is called cowardliness. Jake not thinking before acting made a big mistake that now Sarah has to face.

I say the lesson we could learn from Jake at the moment is your only being a coward or a whimp lets say if your ignoring facts like you know what you did, why you letting someone take the guilt and when you know yourself you need to get some of that too, or you deserve that as much as the next person in the situation. But you wont if you get what you get, take what you deserve, and accept your concequences.
ReplyDelete3. Well now that we've finished the entire book, I feel like Jake's so kind and thoughtful. I learnt that, before you give someone anything weather its answers for a test or any random thing, you should know them and they should be a very trustable person. Jake gaved Sarah the answers because she was just beautiful and flawless! I think Jake wouldn't have had any problems if he knew who Sarah was and if he understood who she really was from the inside. At at the end of the book it ended way different than I think the "real world" is like out there. I mean Jake told and he got his suspension and then he became a "star". I think it goes a little more ruff in the real world, but I still learnt that taking some blame when you where apart of something is better than staying quiet.

Let's imagine giving someone test answers and they get caught and you are the unknown person who has given out the answers . The principal is searching for you and the best thing for you too do is keep your mouth closed ! If you don't say anything you could forget about the whole situation and move on . Your probably going to do what you think is better for you.
So I do not think Jake is a coward in this situation , jake is just doing what he thinks is best for himself which is something 99% of us would probably do.
2) Sometimes friends get into a fight . And sometimes your in the middle . I remember being watched while my friends were in a fight with each other , the both tried to convince me that I should stop being friends with the next ! And they both came to me to to talk bad about each other . Here's the thing if I chose ether one of there sides I would be ridiculed by the other and if I didn't I wouldn't be a "good friend " by then again a good friend wouldn't choose a side.
ReplyDeleteOver time many of my friends started to hate the one and again I was in the middle ! I felt like jake ! Everyone was watching jake and if he came out there was a chance others would hate him , beat him , and just not like him! If I chose one friend over the other the other friend(s) would have disliked me . So i had no idea what to do because on one hand i had 2 friends that were fighting and they wanted me too choose and on the other hand i was in the middle of it all not wanting too choose because no matter what decision i made it ether hurt me , or them and i was scared to choose because i would have been ridiculed .
3 .Don't only think of yourself, think about how these changes will impact you and the life around you . Do the right thing not what you think is right because in the end the guilt will hurt you more then the punishment .

See you might choose the choice thats better for you , but not better for your world around you , the guilt will hurt you more than the punishment and jake should know that you have to face the consequences if your willing to do the wrong.

jake is hiding because there are two punks after to get him, and a mean principle who looking for him. he is in a huge delima he need to do what he thinks is right vs what society want him to do. They all want him to reveal himself.

jake had difficulty choosing what was right, he isn't worried about the consequences he is worried about what people will think of him after he reveals himself, Jake the coward, don't trust him, whatever it is, it most likely is bad.
just for a second lets do some imagination, if tried to steal an iPad, and the person that helped you gets caught, and the principle says you suspended until that person says who they helped to take the iPad what would you do, you know the consequences suspension. but the real fear is your reputation, what people think of you, if your friends see you the same or not.
I don't think he is being a coward he is protecting himself and his reputation but i believe it is the right thing to do by revealing himself.
Fights are pretty common, actually little arguments, when a new kid came to our school a few years, some of my friends didnt like him, so they decided to black mail him, they used my ipod and stuff as props. he was so scared he used to tell me he was scared. but then one day my friends got cuaght, i geuss you can say i was a part of it, when we got cuaght ms jackson wanted to know every one who was a part of it. i had to turn my self in. i was in the same delema, i had to choose between protecting my self or chosing to help and conquer my fear of suspention because i shouldnt get away with it. it was an unfair treatment. i was afraid to lose my friends trust and companionship, just for getting in trouble. tecnically this was bulling which was huge problem and not tolarated. so jake was stuck chosing between his reputation or consequences, just like i was.

1. I personally wouldn't say Jake was any bit cowardly. I mean the book made him seem like a total nerd. But I wouldn't make that a coward. Although I am answering this after we finished the book, and it changed by perspective. I wouldn't put that scenario into a "cowardly"manner. At his point,its probably really weird to get so much attention, even though he was a "unknown" person. He kind of just needed to let that sink him. Its distinct to him. I wouldn't really say Jake is all that cowardly. It may have took time, but it was the time to adjust. Plus you can't blame the guy, his sister was a top notch student and in a way he was expected to live up to that. So cowardly? Not at all.
ReplyDelete2 I guess "younger" me could kind of relate to this. Little kids do seem to be pretty judgy in my eyes. So like if my friend was doing something ridiculous or something mean. My first sense would probably be to tell on them. But it was the feeling that if I did actually tell on my "friend". What would happen was that my group of friends would shun me out. I guess you can say endlessly ridicule me. I guess that was what kind of stopped me from being a taddle tail. I know this is probably one of the most random thing to relate Jake to but what happens happens. The whole concept of that story was that Jake and I were petrified not to snitch. In Jake's case on him self.
3. Never give away answers, especially if your hesitant if they anwsers are even right.

I would kind of go against the fact of doing whats right for others. Me Myself and I always come first.
Well after reading the entire book, I am 99.9% sure we all learnt that cheating isn't really beneficial.
Don't go all "goo goo ga ga" if the "most popular" girl/boy comes up to you. It might be hard to resist but just save your self the trouble. I mean if Justin Bieber just came up and sat next to me, oh what I wouldnt do. But after reading this book, I would try to not act all stupid and try to not be star strucked. Although if you narrow down the "popular" person it would be easier. I mean compare Justin Bieber to some popular 8th grader. Justin Bieber all the way!
Yes Jake did do a good thing to save Sarah. But as I much as I love someone, I would always look out for my self first. But it depends on the situation. If a train was coming and was about hit you, I would give you a heads up. But if I have time to come and push you away and save my self. Just save me one and move away on your own.
1. I don’t think Jake is cowardly because if we were in Jake’s shoes we would do anything and everything to not get caught for being the one who started this whole cheating mess. Even if making anyone else take the blame for something we started we do it to save our self. We would probably be has selfish as Jake was. I know that Jake felt bad for making Sarah take all the blame and he wanted to do something about it but the only thing he could have done is go tell the principal that he was the one who gave the answers to the mid-term exams to Sarah to stop from Sarah getting suspended. But that isn’t something someone can do easily, it takes a lot of courage to do and I’m pretty sure most of us won’t dare to do that to save someone else. We all have our “moral finger” up and we are saying that Jake is a coward but we are saying from our perspective and we have never went through that before so we don’t really know how it feels like, but even though I haven’t been in such a situation I know it’s hard to be in such a situation and I’m saying this from Jake’s perspective not mine.

I haven’t exactly been in an incident like Jake but if I was I would feel bad and embarrassed because everyone would ridicule me for something I never knew that would happen if I cheated on and mid-term exam. Also If I was Jake I would lose all my reputation because everyone knew Jake has a smart kid and if everyone got to know a person like Jake cheated on and mid-term they would all be surprised and would spread bad things about him. Also Jake would be suspended and he has never got suspended before and the principal and teachers won’t see him has they did before. Just by giving the answers to one person, Sarah, he has to face so many problems.
ReplyDelete3. A lesson I can learn is that cheating isn’t going to take you anywhere. No matter how hard you try to hide that you cheating eventually you will get caught. Also no matter how much you plan to not get caught one way or the other the teacher will get to know. Another thing I learned is by cheating you’re not only hurting yourself your also hurting you peers, teachers and family. I could connect this to Jake’s plight because since Jake gave the answers to Sarah she gave it to her friends and it increased the chances for them to get caught. Once they got caught it ruined Sarah and her friend’s lives because all their parents are upset with them and so is the principal. If Jake never thought of cheating no of this would happened and all of them would be leading a happy life other than a disappointed life. Just because of Jake’s one decision it ruined so many people’s lives.
