ReplyDeleteIs that what you think? this is what the video said ...
Deleteand grade 8 an hour
Deleteif homework would was no t given alot of kids moms and dads would be angry or maybe they will leave and home school there children
ReplyDeletedo they give homework when you are home schooled???
Deletemaybe it depends
Delete1. I don't think there can actually be a "Right" amount of homework because many students wont and learn at different speeds, Since in school we teach kids based on our age I would say it is almost impossible to have a "Right" amount of home work.
ReplyDelete2.I don't think there should be any expectation for homework at all, I feel like homework is just something extra, Its something that is unneeded, If a teacher had to check if a student understood what they taught in class they could simply Check there school work, Or give him/her homework for that one night.
Whats right for you?
Deletequestion 2 can not be dismissed so easily...construct a homework plan not devise a way to not bother

DeleteA "Right" amount of homework for me would be 1-7 Questions in math, and a journal writing.
DeleteQ2) A homework plan for me is to do my math as soon I come home because everything Everything I learnt is still in my head, I like to do Language, or Journal writing before I go to bed because I have something to think about, I have more time to think about what I said, anything else I would do after math (Its usually how I do my homework)
Devise a plan for grade 8s like a policy not just a personal plan

Deletethe amount of homework given for grade one or two should be 20 min i have a brother in grade one and he takes 20 mins maybe kids that are smart can finish it in 10 min you can say grade one and two kids can take 20 mins or 30 you cant say that cause there kids that take hours to do this and also its all about the how you help your children and the discipline.
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete1) Depending on the grade you are in, the amount of homework given is based on that. It’s also based on how well you do. If you are in grade 3 or under you should get at least 20 minutes of homework just to get your hand writing set or even to confirm your knowledge of how much you know of a topic. As you gradually get older, you get more homework as you have rotary and begin to have other teachers for science, gym, math, music and more. From each of these teachers we get at least 20 minutes of homework. Should we receive this much homework? Realistically we get at least an hour and a half of homework sometimes even forty-five minutes. So yes we should have homework, only because if you didn’t understand the lesson or you didn’t have any class time to finish it you can do it at home. Getting homework gives you a sense of what you would be doing on a test; it prepares you for the type of questions that would be on it. Because of this yes homework should be given.

ReplyDeleteBut f this happens then Most kids will fail, Like how you said "home work should be given but if don't complete it you should not be punished but instead you should be told to do it at the next day and if you don't still complete it then you will start falling behind" Most kids Wont do there homework and when they get into high school most of the kids will drop out because they cannot no longer catch up they've "fallen behind"
Deleteyou should double check your answer
Deletegrammar, spelling, punctuation give more detailed example give quote
Do kids really fail?
Deletethey do not really fail but if the do that bad wouldn't your parent want you to do that grade over i mean its really just up to the parents if they want you to do the grade over or just get transferred to the next grade
DeleteHow much homework is the right amount of homework? I would say that we shouldnt be given too less or too much. It depends on our grade at the same time. Like mentioned in the video, we should be given the amount of homework which is doable and doesn't put a lot of burden on ur heads. Around 30-45 minutes grades 1-6, and from grade 8 and so on, we shouldnt be given homwork that takes more than 20 minutes per subject.
ReplyDelete"I have always felt there should be a balance between homework and family time." -Annie Lopez. I agree. We are at school nearly 6 hours a day, where out of that we work for about 5 hours? That's the time we study and pay attention to our education, and when we go home, we shouldnt always be about the paper pencil. If we are given hours of homework, when will we have time for family, our hobbies, and time to enjoy ourselves or relax?
I can relate this to myself as well. I remeber in grade 6, we would always work hard core in school. No breaks, 5 hours straight (besides the lunch break). That is understandable, but n top of that, we were given loads oh homework. Remembering clearly, at times we would be given homework which would take around 2-4 hours. This can drive a person insane. I agree that it builds up our responsibilty and concentration and can take us far into other things in life (good grades=good schools=higher chances of getting a better job), but I would strongly say that only a decent amount of homework should be needed.
and the amount that would write is basically what you haven't finished at school

ReplyDeleteyou should put a quote
DeleteGreat use of finding a quote to articulate your position
Deletei deleted the old post and and rewrote it with the quote!
DeleteThe amount of homework given to a kid depends on the kid's learning level and not their speed. if a kid who works on his homework in an average speed is given homework that he finishes in an hour, but another kid who is slower finishes it in 3 hours. they both got the same homework but it took one kid much longer. so if each kid would be given different amounts of homework, so each student would finish in an hour, would make it unfair. if a kid does 1 question in 15 min, he would only have to do 4 questions, and another finishes 1 question in 5 mins, he would have to do 12 questions(3 times more). if they use this method some students will get less homework and get a low grade, and some will do more homework and get a higher grade. This is why each kid should get homework according to their learning level, homework that would make them think hard, and make sure they understand everything as well.
ReplyDeleteHow many questions should you get as homework per night?
Deletei think that the right amount of homework is enough homework for a student to finish there homework properly like if the they had to do there work in class. neat and tidy. they should not have the feeling to quit with there homework saying its to much and they aren't going to try to do some of it. for example math. in some questions in math there's one question and it takes time to do all the explanation to get the right answer and there's part a,b,c,d,e,f students will fix there mind saying its to much of explanation to do and on top of that there's a,b,c,d,e,f. i think that 15 minutes of homework per day will just do the right think. i think that reading should be part of homework so a next 15 minutes of reading will be good. so in overall 30 minutes of homework per day will make students want to do there work like if they had to do it in class.
ReplyDeletei think a realistic homework expectation for grade 8 will be math, language and reading. this will be less homework for students at the same time they will be doing there homework like if they had to do it in class. i keep saying this because if you check the difference from homework and homework at home i think that you will be more of a messy work unorganized. so if you give students less homework they will do it better than rather they will have a whole lot of homework and not do it . in my opinion if you have to do your homework messy and unorganized and you rush through it what is the point of doing your homework. if you rush your work your more likely to get the answer right rather than wrong.i think that the reason why students rush through there homework is because they want to play outside or video games. and this is the reason why students are failing in academics. they don't spend time doing there homework. if they don't have homework they don't bother to review what they did or look at the other chapter.
Teens think listening to music helps them concentrate. It doesn't. It relieves them of the boredom that concentration on homework induces.
Marilyn vos Savant
dont you think every single day having language and math homework will be boring?
DeleteThe quote is good but attempt to incorporate it in your response rather then just adding it on at the end
Deletedo you really think that 15 minutes of homework is realy reasonable. if you are saying that we should finish math language and reading 15 minutes, dont you think students would rush and there would be no affect and it wouldnt be worth even giving the homeowkr in that case?
Deletealso each student should get home work from each of the main subjects; science, math, history, language
ReplyDeleteWhat about all the other subjects, are they not important, and give details on what kind of homework, i don't think you should just say the name of the subjects but you should also talk about what work and assignments you are going to do for those subjects. If you just say the name of the subjects then you are missing the point you need to talk about the amount of work in each subject.
Delete1. How much homework is the right amount of homework?
ReplyDeleteI don't think that there is a right amount of homework to give. I think that the work you don't finish in class should be done at home but no extra work. This is because I don't think students can concentrate at home as much as they do at school. At home there are many things to distract you like your electronics or games that you play or even your siblings sometimes. At school you have a better environment its mostly quiet and most teachers don't allow you to go on your electronics so there is nothing to distract you. Also it depends on how much you are able to do and how fast you are able to do it. Some teachers give lots of homework and students who know how to do the work and understand it can do it in no time but some students who have trouble understanding it take a longer amount of time to finish. This is why teachers shouldn't give extra work because some students take long to finish the work that they had in class and then when they have to do more they will get tired and leave it, and when they go to school the next day, they get in trouble for not finishing the work.
So your position is only do unfinished work at home ... Any challenges?
DeleteWhat do you mean by challenges, like other work that the teachers give for fun or to give the students practice?
Delete@duvanie do you think that if we did unfinished work for homework everyday we would learn to think creatively and try to understand and figure out problems on our own? When teachers give homework, it develops their brain by helping them do new challenges and figuring out problems that they have not learned about before. And usually even if they were wrong then e teacher will clarify and this will help the student remember their mistake better.
DeleteIf the student has no challenges then I think that would be boring because they are just writing and hardly any thinking is occurring, if you try to solve a problem which you are not so sure about then your brain develops more and you are able to solve harder problems that you have never done before, more easily,

ReplyDeleteI think that the right amount of homework is probably a few questions from each subject just to help you keep the things you learned in your mind and make sure that you don't forget them. I think that it is necessary for you to do homework for at least an hour because if you did less than an hour than you probably just rushed through the homework and you will not gain any knowledge since you wont remember anything. Although if you do more than an hour students usually get bored of doing too much homework and they will just stop producing good work and then the whole point of doing homework is ruined since the students are not learning anything but are just following the necessary instructions.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of time a student takes to do their homework also depends upon the amount of homework given, if you have an hour worth of homework, if your work was really good it will probably take a half hour more, if your homework was worth 45 minutes if you work was very good it will probably take an hour or so. This means that it also depends on how hard the student wants to work, if the student just wants to follow the instructions it will probably take less time if they wish do go beyond it will probably take longer.
If you look at the chart above, out of 1179 grade 7`s to 12`s ,50% of the students got A`s when they studies for 1 hour or more and 50%. Then when you look again only a few amount of students get A`s when they study less than one hour. This just proves that if you study for 1 hour or more students get higher marks so 1 hour or more of studying is the right amount of time. "I believed in studying just because I knew education was a privilege. It was the discipline of study, to get into the habit of doing something that you don't want to do".
Wynton Marsalis
I think grade 8 students would get homework as described below:
- Math pg 21 questions 1-5, 7,8,9
-Science- Name the organelles of the plant and animal cells and draw a labelled diagram
- English- Short summary and text to world connection about book rebound
-Read for 30 minutes
i do agree with you when you say that if you spend less then an hour on your homework, you rushed, but i do disagree with you with this statement because what if someone is just more productive, attentive, and more focused than you, and they do the homework in about 45 mins.would you consider that rushed or just more productive.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteTime and production are not equal from student to student
DeleteThe average grade 8 student will not finish the amount of homework which i wrote and is usually given to students everyday in only a few minutes, I mean there are some people that are able to but not most of them will be able to finish that much work that quickly. And yes I agree there may be many people out there who are very productive and could finish their work very quickly while making their work very good, although the point is that it depends on how much homework you get. If you get no homework of course it wont take you any time but if you had alot of homework it will take you a longer time.
Delete@jamin
Deletewell it also depends on the difficulty of the homework that you get, for example we can get about five math worksheets, that seems like a lot of homework but then you see it is about adding and multiplication. the time it takes you to do homework also depends on the difficulty not the quantity
@jamin,
DeleteI do agree with jamin here, some people have short attention spans and then it will prove harder to focus with that amount of homework
^_^

ReplyDeleteIt basically depends on the grade and what you learn every day in school. Most teachers give a lot of homework because they think it would make the student better at what they learned but sometimes when students get a lot of homework, they don’t do it because they get tired of it. Students should get homework that they can finish in less than 2- 2 1/2 hours because they want some time to go outside, have fun, watch TV, chat with their friends and etc. so In my opinion, It just basically depends on the grade level. For ex. In high schools students get so much homework because they are in a higher grade. As Robert Kiyosaki once said “Your future is created by what you do today not tomorrow”, and that is totally true if students work hard, but working hard doesn’t mean tons of homework every day because like I said “if they get a lot of homework, they won’t do it because they would get tired of it”, So teachers should give students the amount of homework they can finish in time and not in 3-5 hours.
It's a great quote but it doesn't totally support your position
Deletebut if we know itll take a long time to do it, then we wont want to do our homework at all
DeleteIn my opinion, I believe that the right amount of homework for grade eight is just about an hour or so, but of course, homework requires us to not be done the work in class already. We can not have math homework if we finish the home work already so i do not think that the teacher should give us any more work because them all the other students will fall behind us so there is no reason to give out extra work if the student did there fair share already in class. I believe that the student should have approximately one to one-and-a-half hour(s) worth of homework because a student can not simply devote every single hour after school to there studies unless you are Ivan Montelibano but still, some children have difficulty focusing for long periods time, such as me. Not only this but some people will think that homework is pointless and believe it way to time consuming to even bother while others may have difficulty in doing the actual homework itself, or it is simply way to overwhelming for them to do. One hour does not seem like a lot of time since we spend about six hours at school, so it seems very reasonable to do an extra hour on your homework.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the first and foremost thing on the list of home work expectations is to actually do the homework ( duh, you're expected and required to do it anyways so just do the homework ). The list goes as such...
1. Complete 95-100% the homework
2. You are to do the homework to the best of your ability
3. All homework must be handed in at the respected due date.
4. homework is not to be plagiarized.
home work would be as fallows...
Delete- Math pg.123 Q#'s 1-3, 6,8,9
-Language. finish responce
LIES!!! you never devote all of your time to home work almost half the day your out side doing some thing stupid. if not something stupid your skate boarding very where. also ivan you know every one dose not complete their home work. even if you say 95-100% completion rate its more like 75-85%. not only that do you seriously think us students are going to do it to the best of their abilitys. i know it is just expectations but dont you think your expecting a bit too much from us.
Delete1. as most people think homework should be banned from schools because it supposedly takes a lot of our time and because of it we arent spending time with our families. first of all thats just an excuse. we all know we use homework as an excuse to not be with our families, we rush through our homework, then when we are done, we go on our phones or devices but tell our parents that we arent done with homework just so they leave us alone. even if we had none, we would not be with them we would rather chat with our friends so that i know cannot be an excuse to use so we have no homework. “ive got a lot of homework to do, and none of it has anything to do with school” –Travis Thrasher, solitary secondly, if we dont have any homework, we will get bored at home and its not like we are going to go outside but if we do it wont be for long so why complain if we get homework? its not like we have to do anything important. maybe some are busy people with busy parents that drag us to places, but other than that we have nothing to do. nothing. now, im not saying we should have tons and tons of homework. i disagree with the video when it says 20- 25 minutes daily for EVERY subject. no i dont want that because that becomes around 2 hours of homework daily and thats what us kids dont want, we've had enough of it. the weird thing is we got sooo much homework in grade 6 but now in grade 8 we barely get any which im not complaining but it still is weird. anyways back to my point, i am not asking for hours and hours of homework. i think about an hour or less worth of homework every day is enough. maybe even read for 30 minutes or so but still. the fact that we cant be fatigued with so much homework right after a busy day at school is true but no homework at all will make us just forget about what we have learned that day so at that pace we will not learn anything and we wont go far by the end of the school year. another problem with no homework is that we will start getting lazier and lazier that just having a project in grade 9, we will start to not do our assignments and we dont want that so just a fair amount of homework will be good cuz if we start getting a lot of homework, we will sleep late which will make us sleepy the next day which wont make us pay attention in class which will make our mark slowly decrease and we do not want that. Having a decision about whether or not we should have homework is quite tough especially for adults because they don’t want their children or students mad at them. So just a little bit of homework daily will be good, but not always the same thing or boring homework because it will get students lazy and they wont want to do it.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I think the homework should be by the grade level. Students should get reasonable amount of homework so they can review what they learned in class. Students shouldn’t get so much homework that they can’t even spend time with their families; especially when in high school during exams time it puts more stress on students brain. Some students have so much homework they have to stay up late and they get less sleep and they next day they can’t focus in class. Students need break so they can go out be active rather than being in a room and keeping your head down and doing your homework for ¾ hours.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said about high school but don't you think that sometimes kids just watch TV, play video games when they know that they have a lot of homework to do which is why they go to bed so late??? And don't you think that sometimes their parents are the ones who want them to do the homework? and not pay attention on other things?
DeleteDon't you think that homework gives less stress in high school, because when the student has enough practice they know that they will do good on their exams because they know that they practiced enough.
Deleteyes kids just think sometimes oh have lots of hours to do homework so why now, some parents just want to make sure than their kids are doing homework and not just watching TV i don't agree that parents don't want you to do anything else beside homework, then you are just basically saying that all the parents wants you to do is study, study and study
Delete1)“Homework: because7 hours of school wasn’t enough” at times we all get bombarded with homework that sometimes doesn’t even makes sense to us and choose that studying means watching TV, eating and texting with an open textbook nearby. This does happen a lot so the teachers should give a reasonable amount of time where the student can complete the work with at least some understanding and still have a bunch time to do other things they normally do. I think the amount should depend on what grade the student is and what they did in class, a maximum amount of time for grade 1-2 should be around 10-25 minutes, for grade 3s it should be around 30-45 minutes and for 4-5 it should be 20-25 minutes for each subject, and finally the grade 6-8 again should have a total 30-35 minutes for each subject. When you really think about it there is no right amount to give homework because it teaches time management and responsibility and it really just depends on the student and how well they understand in class.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletebut there will be a difference in near and tidy organized if students take there homework home. students will rush there homework so they can have the rest of the day doing what they want. the unfinished work will become messy work. they will do there work a faster and messier way to finished there homework. i think that no unfinished work should be homework
DeleteThat just depends on child to child. Why not actually sit there and spend time finishing it neatly then trying to rush off? If you don't complete unfinished work at home then you're going to fall back in the subjects.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWell it seems like an hour of home work seems to be the most ideal amount of homework. Any more than an hour looks like the students start to lose interest in doing homework and never completes his or her work. While anything less than an hour it seems like the students are not learning enough. But it seems like some schools have made a limit to the amount of homework given. Like from grade 1-2 only 20 minutes of homework, from 3-4 40 minutes of homework. And for any grade above so 5-8 about 20 minutes each subject (which can be a bit harsh). It seems like it differs from grade. But the charts show that an hour of homework starting from grade 3 is the right thing to do. So I am going with an hour of homework work is enough!
ReplyDeleteAs for grade 8 homework should be different for each term honestly if would prefer the harder homework now then later. Because if we get the harder homework now and we do great now. Our progress report would be better than us slacking off on the easy work, and that will affect our high schools. Not only that we are going to graduate during the second term and rather than be the easier term. let us enjoy our last year here is not that better than stressing right before grad. Im sure no one wants homework on the same week as grad.
i do agree with you about the harder the homework the greater you get now. discussion will continue later
Deleteand the less you do after. this means an easier and more funner year.
Delete1. In my opinion, there isn't really a "right" amount of homework. Homework is just an after school activity for minutes or hours to improve our knowledge on various subjects. However too much homework can be stressful where you might not be receiving the right kind of environment at home thus you either complete it badly or just don't complete it at all. I think the best work is accomplished at school, therefore class work should be increased than giving homework. At least, at school you can have right kind of guidance and people you can ask for help if you don't understand something. I think if school has a dedicated time of about 6-7 hours, all work should be completed within that time rather than continuing for another few hours at home as well because there might be other activities you have to do at home plus you do need time for yourself. Following a constant routine 5 days a week can be quite frustrating and getting double the homework on weekends is like receiving no time for yourself, family or friends. I think students any age should have time for themselves because following this kind of routine for a constant 20 years can be very stressful. Also, the kind of rule that the older a child gets, the more work they should have in school and homework, I think it's very wrong because the older you get the more difficulty arises in education, you get burdened through other responsibilities just because you're getting "older". This is also the kind of reason where students just get stressed about everything and start suffering through anxiety and depression. Over all, I recommend a very little amount of homework daily like reading 20-30 minutes or proper hour of homework every 2 days or so. "Wonder what it’s like to have a peaceful life,” Ron sighed, as evening after evening they struggled through all the extra homework they were getting.”
ReplyDelete― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I agree with this statement since many students are thinking this these days after not getting time to practically experience anything and just sitting all afternoon-evening just completing homework. Also, I think students learn a lot more practically through experience of going on informative places for trips, or watching informative movies, etc. I think education is not all about the writing and math and is a lot more to understanding how to get ahead in life by experiencing. Experiences are a lot more remembered and can stay in our brains for example, going to the Ontario Science Center for a day is A LOT more knowledge and education than 3 periods of Science daily for a week. Lastly, somewhat work after school should be there for students otherwise it makes our parents think we aren't doing enough at school and either way our parents give us harder academic work which we don't understand since we don't have background knowledge about it. Therefore, we should get a little work from teachers that we could improve our current level of math, science, language, etc and not try to get ahead and confuse ourselves further.
2. I think the appropriate and realistic amount of homework for a grade 8 student at BHJMS should be about 20-30 minutes of reading and any unfinished work that we failed to complete during the school time. I think we are receiving the right amount of work that gives us time for ourselves and doesn't completely stress us out. Also, at BHJMS as a Grade 8 student we are receiving projects and work from other teachers that others may not be aware of, therefore each teacher should be aware of how much work they're giving to their students and be considerate of work we are getting from other teachers as well. Also, one thing that frustrates a lot of us at BHJMS is work being due from different teachers on the same day. It gives us a lot of pressure to get two completely different things done on time. However, our schedules help us and give us a break of a day or two for a certain subject and that way we get more time to complete that work.
What I think a realistic homeowork would plan for grade 8 at BHJMS should be like is this...
ReplyDeleteAs we have 8 periods in a school day at BHJMS, say the schedule looked something like this... LA, LA, LA, French, Math, Math, Science, Science. i feel that a lesson should be taught and the work should be given in class, we should be given a reasonable time to work in class, and the reamaining homework should be done at home. So for language arts, if we read a passage from the book and are given a few questions to answer we should be given class time to work on it and then at home it should take us no longer thamn 20-25 minutes to complete it.
For math it should be the same. A lesson should be taught and then around 5-8 math questions for homework is reasonable. If we are given the right amount of time in class to work on it, we should be able to get atleast 3-5 questions done, and then the rest should be homework. So finish about 4 math problems should take more than 20-30 minutes. And then for science, as it is more hands on, we either end up getting a project or some science questions to answer, maybe around 4-5 questions and then again some time in class to work on those, which will allow us to take no longer than 20 minutes on the science.
So the final homeowrk plan would look something like this...
math- finish question (35 mins)
language arts- complete questions 9(20 mins)
science- complete questions (20 mins)
This homework would take no longer han about 1 and a half hour if we think realistically. The reason I say that we should be given some class time to work on the homework, is because we shouldnt be given anything new for homework and we have any questions we can ask the teacher for help right away instead of taking an extra hour at home and confuse ourselves.
1) The amount of homework students should receive to be described as "the right amount of homework" can not be devoted to just one thing,as the amount of homework you get vary s meaning how much time and effort you devote to homework all depends on you. This means depending on how students do in school, determines how much homework they should receive. Homework is described as practice. Meaning practice what you learned in school, and that can be different for many students as some learn better than others so that can be different for a lot of things. Teachers cant stick to just one format and amount to give their students. Think about it, sometimes many students in the class excel at a certain unit at math. So that wont mean teachers should give tons of homework that will take hours upon hours. That doesn't make sense. But that same class might be struggling in a strand in science. That is when a bit more homework should be assigned. Notice how I said a bit and not tons of homework. Well when given work there has to be some reasoning and logic behind it too.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the chart when students take more than a hour to complete their work the chances of them trying to get a good grade drops. This means when given a lot of work they either loose interest or get overwhelmed with the amount of work they are given. This means there isn't any worthwhile practice occurring. In fact when assigning more work the amount of expected practice and learning drops, just like the chances of getting a good grade. Why because homework becomes a chore and the feeling of boredom and fear increases. Similar to when you get less homework. The same results occur. The lesser the time the lower the results. As there is no practice occurring. So what I say is that the right amount vary s and that there has to be some reasoning and logic behind it.
2) A realistic amount of homework for grade 8 students . Should be something that ensures their understanding. Meaning an amount of practice that makes students ensure that they get what they learned. This means homework should be thrown at us as like now. Bit by bit. As when we get older we will need to adapt in environments where we only get homework. A specific example could be 3-4 subjects a day and these could be different depending on schedule ( math, science, English) ( art, history, drama ) etc. This will mean that we are getting a healthy amount of homework and actually taking in what we learned. Homework is important and we need a healthy amount of it. "You have got to pay attention, you have got to study and do your homework. You have to score higher than everybody else. Otherwise, there is always somebody there waiting to take your place. " Daisy Fuentes
So every now and then we get homework and we hate it. So is there such a thing as a proper amount of home work yes there is. In my opinion it should be the work we dont finish and the work that would wrap up the lesson. So work any where from 30-45 minutes for our grade at least cause we have the focus to do it and we do have the time. There is something called to much work and that would be from an hour to an hour and thirty five minuets and that's just ridiculousness. In the end we should just all stop being a bunch of winy kids and just do the work
ReplyDeleteSo let me just say the requirements of work are self explanatory but hear they are any way
1) complete the work 90-100%
2)Do the work to the best of your knowledge
3)Dont be lazy if the question ask you to show your work just show it
4)Do it right dont rush
5)hand it in on the due date and respective time
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is a right amount of homework. Not all kids are the same. Kid learn at different paces. Some kids learn at faster rate and can do lots of homework. While some kids learn at a slower rate than others and will be bothered by lots of homework. I conclude there isn't a right amount of homework.
A detailed and realistic homework expectation for grade 8 at BHJMS is for kids to do at least some kind of homework for at least two or more subjects. Kid should have time to things other than homework. With these expectations kids will have time to do what they want and practice skills for school. Kids won't be bothered by lots of homework and since it isn't a lot that they can be more neat, organized and overall have better work.
I understand what you are trying to say, but I disagree with this statement because even if some students learn at a slower rate they should ask questions and have the initiative to improve their learning skills and if we aren't given so much hw then it can slower down the students who learn at a fast rate. So if we are given homework which I say should be what we don't finish in class, all students would be up to date and students who take more time to learn can take their time to do it at home? What do you think?
Delete2) I think a realistic homework expectation for a grade 8 should look like this
ReplyDelete1=homework should 95-100% finished
2= it should reflect on what you learned in class
3=it should be understandable
4=handed in on time
5=it shouldn’t be plagiarized
All these things we all already and it’s not something that’s new.
The homework should look like this
La= finish response to the quote of the day (around 15-20 minutes)
Math= page 114 # 1-5 and 11 ( 20-25 minutes)
Science= draw a diagram on the plant and animal cell and compare the two
French write the French meaning into English

ReplyDeleteThere is no established “right” amount of homework, although some boards and schools have homework policies that limit the amount of time depending on the grade. kids dont like homework because they want to play. there are two types of kids at school the ones that are lazy and there are ones that dont want to homework but they know it
ReplyDelete1. i dont think there can be the exact amount of homework beacuse it matter what grade your in or how the child is with homework or school for an example if your child pays attention in class they can understand there homework its deos not relly matter about the amount its how the kid fells or knows his homework. like if a kid thats in grade 6 or seven has homework and they dont understand it it will take time but if the kid know his homework it wont take that long its like that with al the grades 1 to 12. the problem with kids these days they dont pay atenntion in class while the teacher is explaining the homework the kids are thinking about other stuff like what am i going to do at recces ? and when they come home they say to there pearnts or who ever helps them will say did your teacher explain the homework they will say no. thats why there cant be the right amount there are kids in the same grade and same homework but its about the disaplin.

ReplyDeletethe reason there cant be the right amount of homework because there are kids that are fast at learning or understanding and some are not. There are also some that are disciplined and some that are not there and also there are some kids that pay attention in class
ReplyDelete. In my opinion there cant and somehow can be the right amount of homework because right now there are kids in grade 2 that have the mind grade wise. grade 4 because when they get homework they do it fast. there like that because at summer when they were in grade one they were teached to get ready for school . other kids will take a long amount of time to do homework there problem is that they dont pay attention in class and are not disciplined at home and at school
The expectation of homework at BMJMS you must have a smart answer you must must write name and date and also you have to have a level 4 answer

ReplyDeleteAt Beaumonde we have been getting homework ever since I can remember. But what is the right amount of homework? There isn’t one. As you move on into grades the work becomes harder. As you do homework it all depends on how fast you do it. The pace you move at for your homework is up to you. If one gets 20 minutes of homework a person who knows what they’re doing can get it done in 15 minutes even. But if another student who isn’t so good at it will tale around 35 minutes or so. Each subject we get, we usually receive 20-30 minutes of homework, if you have five different subjects that are equal to an hour and twenty minutes for homework. That’s the realistic amount of homework I think that should be given to grade eights at Beaumonde. 20 to 30 minutes of homework for each subject. As we usually have homework from at least three subjects that adds up to an hour of homework each day. An hour is based on how fast you can do it, or how slow. Because of this reason there isn’t a realistic amount. There are different lengths of time people take to do their homework.
