    1. But didn't Sean get in trouble last year?

      Delete
    2. @ Farina. He did get in trouble last year but he is not planning on doing it this year. Plus Derrick is also right on how he trying not to hang out with Scott anymore because he knows that hanging out with him can get him into major trouble.

    7. @ DERRICK so are you saying you like making your own decisions most of the times.. so you like to be independent?

    8. Yea totally because I WHAT TO CONTROL MY! LIFE. Would you like other people making youre decision in life????
      I would never

    9. Yea @Farina sean was a trouble maker last year so now he whants to be good.

  2. To me, i think that the character i am most like is Sean. The love of sports is what connects us together. We might not have the same favourite sport but we definetly show the interest in the sport we have.

    1. Is their anything else you and Sean can relate to?

      Delete
    2. what your trying to say is that you are only like sean because of the love of sports. try finding more reasons you guys connect with each other ( if any).

      Delete
    3. Any deep or within connections? This is like text to self. Any similar feelings or thoughts you got?

  3. i think im most like sean because if there was a new kid that was in a wheel chair that came to beaumonde and i was his host we wouldnt be friends because i would stereo type him i would be like hes in a wheel chair hes not normal he wouldnt be able to play sports. ect.....

im least like david because he is in a wheel chair and because david gets away with everything and i get cought with everything and i dont talk to grade 7 girls only when they talk to me -_-.

    1. I agree that we would all be STEREO TYPE of someone in a wheel chair and that we would think that a kid in a wheel chair couldnt play BASKETBALL!

      Delete
    2. @ nauman
why do you think wheel chair people are less superior than us .....what makes us think that? And why?

      Delete
    3. @ abeeshan, I think we act as if people are in a wheelchair are less superior than us because, we feel as if they cant work their feet their hands are not as good for example Ms Birch in the story was talking real slow and loud, if his feet are disabled, his ears arent, his hands/arms arent etc.

      Delete
    4. i agree what you are saying(commenting) about since you added the word STEREOTYPE i understood that you would hang around david as much as the other "normal" kids (as what harman would say) so i am with you for this one.

      Delete
    5. The word STEREOTYPE takes a real affect in this. I agree, maybe because we want to stay accepted with our friends. Not everyone thinks like others. I f I were to be friends with someone in a wheel chair, my friends would make weird eye contacts and move apart from each other. It's like getting worried of making new friends and handling the rest of them.

  5. I think I am most like Sean because eventhough we hear his opinnion in the novel I think that he self regulates him self. He thinks before he does something. This is just like me I never make a step before thinking of the pros and cons! He always makes plan for example he is trying to be good untill the last second when basketball season is over. He realizes that he is spending alot of time with David but he still doesnt want to be friends.

The character that I am most likely not to be is Scott. I say this because I dont try to act cool, I just be myself I dont care what people think of me. Well kind of but, I dont smoke on school property on the first day of school just to show how tough I am. I dont skip class just to hang out with my friends. I dont bully others so they think I am big. In conclusion I just think I am the exact opposite of Scott.

    1. i agree with your statements, since your alot like sean there should be one or two things you both don't have in common for example he gets double minded to what choices he makes. can you find at least one thing you guys don't have in common (if any).

      Delete
    2. Abeeshan, from the first few sentences that you wrote, it seems that you are talking about the experiences that Sean is going through. The part that we are in right now; Sean is thinking before he goes and joins Scott with his group and beer. It's a good habit to do so, thinking in such fast pace making decisions.

      Delete
    3. As of right now Sean doesn't seem so "smart" right now per say,not thinking of the consequencesof hanging out with people that are drinking beer. What do you think might come as an adittion to this act?

      Delete
    4. In addition it would probably be discipline. Luckily, David actually saved his life from the reader's perspective.

      Delete
  6. i am like sean because of his denial every time i do not believe in something or i beleive in something i will be in the stage of denial just like sean he does not think he is friends with david (which he clearly is)and he denies it.

i am least like david because i am not two faced like him i will either be mad at everyone or be happy with everyone however david is happy and mad at the same time

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. do you beleive that David is 2 faced or do you think that he is complex like many of us?

I believe that he is complexed because evryone acts differently and then you act differently to that. "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction"

      Delete
    2. so you can be mad at the world but for the next second you are the most harmless person i agree about complexity but it is hard to change a mood like that

      Delete
    3. hey have you evr got mad at your siblings and you try to be mad but at the end ...you end up talking to them right? Its kind of like that, Sean touched his chair so he got mad and then he got happy again. So what you should be mad at the guy for the whole day?

      Delete
    4. so since your least like david i still think that there are some facts that both of you have in common such as, your love of basketball. both of you ar pretty good at it. Is there any other reasons that both of you are kind of alike. explain.?

      Delete
    5. Well, we don't always act the same way to everyone right? We act harsh with enemies, nice with friends, respectful to elders, and so much more with others. We have different faces for different people. In fact David has more than two faces.

      Delete
  7. The character I am most like is Sean, because for Sean he has to host David who thinks Sean is his friend but to Sean David is like a little PUNK he has to put up with. The same happens to me, because some people think that I am their friend but realy to me they are just people that are in the same ZONE as me.

The person that I am least like is Scott, because I would never smoke and skip some classes to go play pool. And also I dont like making a big entrance like Scott in the lunch room. Thats why I am not like Scott

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. never say never most likely when you grow up you will try it and see if you like to smoke BUT THATS LATER ON IN LIFE!!!! so are you sure never ?

      Delete
    2. I agree with Pablo there is a good chance everyone will try it once for the curiosity. We all want to know how it feel s no doubt but we have to be careful we dont fall into the trap especially not by our friends. They become more important as life goes on!

      Delete
    3. i also agree with you(pablo) if you give up no one will look up to you. for example if you are learning to ride a car and keep on messing up you shouldn't quit. If you do your friends and family will laugh at you. If you succeed every one would congratulate you.

      Delete
    4. Well opinions and our minds change between time periods of our life. Maybe this is how he is thinking right now and like you guys mentioned, it may change later on.

  8. I would think im most not like david because hes all out."He's like a lady man" but im just normal.David all way what to have fun 24\7 but hes all so a bully. He likes to be all high and mighty,The king of all kings but i dont like to be that.I just what to stay out of trouble and have fun with my friends.Like any kid would.

      Delete
    3. Well, I don't think expect him to be the lowest of the low man. Normal? He already has one problem bringing the image of abnormality to him with people's bias.

Character I'm least like is Scott I don't really get in trouble alot, and I don't do stupid things like ditch class, or smoke, or anything else like that.

      Delete
    3. You need better people to be better. If not, peer pressure will occur and you feel left out of the group of crowd. Actually, you need friends but, usually you should depend on yourself. " Even your own shadow leaves you at times." Friend are for fun, but don't take them as a depression creating a waste in life.

  11. I think i am least like Scott because because i'm totally not into ditching class or smoking ciggars. I am not the person who will get in trouble alot. Scott is the goofy kid who gets in trouble alot and acts likehe is king or something but when it comes to the VP, he is the biggest coward ever.

    1. If you were Scott and you skipped classes and one day Mr.Vp comes, would you run away like a coward so you wont get caught (exactly what he did)?
If you would of done that then, when Scott did it would you say he is a bad guy? Because you probably would of done the same thing.

I say Scott is a realistic subject.

      Delete
    2. I agree with Abeeshan becasue anyone of us wouldve ran away if the VP came and you were doing something wrong.

      Delete
    3. It simply shows that we would all do this. What we would avoid doing is the bad things that Scott did.Or else we wouldn't run away. That is the difference between us.

      Delete
    4. @ so what scott did was right well realistic

      Delete
    5. I don't follow that Abeeshan. Can you explain a bit more?

      Delete
    6. Well @ABEESHAN the thing scott did was bad but it was an act that people in life do everday.Like if you know you did some thing wrong then you would avoid any person you know how would get you in trouble right?Yes

      Delete
  12. Is that all the connection that you and sean have?It sounds to simple.

  13. I think i would be most like David. He doesn't want anyone giving him the special treatment, when he's around his friends he's always telling jokes, and he if he's bored during class, he'd start sketching. I could connect to all that, i'm independant, I like doing things on mt own. When i'm around my friends, I just want to have fun and make the best of it. Also, every now and then, in class i'd start sktching. When David drew one of the girls at lunch, it was like when i drew Fatma in science.

    1. @ sarah i agree that david and you are similar in different ways, but don't you think he tries to be toooo tough for his age. I mean getting in a fight at the first day of school seems like something a devistated rebel would do.(ps. do you think if sean gets caught that david would back him up by using the excuse of his wheelchair? and why or why not.

      Delete
    2. There is many things in similar with David and you. Is there anything that is similar from within? Like feelings or personality?

      Delete
  14. This is a tough one because the characters are different from me in many ways. But I would say David because I do feel as though I'm different from the rest. But am I ashamed of it? No. Will I sulk in misery because of it? No. Instead I enjoy going with the flow like David does. I'll also do what I want to do no matter what the circumstances are. David has this chill persona to him. Also I noticed how angry he got when Sean was about to push his wheelchair and I know I can get really angry sometimes when someone is about to do what I don't really like at all. It's just about the way he snapped is exactly how I would've snapped.

    1. Why do you think you are different from everyone. Is that in personality, physical ability, or how you look to others?

      Delete
    2. do you think that david was actually burning from the inside when the teacher pushed his wheelchair. what i think is that he just got pissed to scare sean for a first impression.

      Delete
    3. I was thinking in a different angle, can it ever be fun to be served? I mean everyone behaves nicely and acts like your slave, isn't that great? Or does it look artificial and annoying for them?

      Delete
  15. i am most like Sean because i like to be other people friends also i like to treat them the way they want to be treated because everyone want's to be treated in a good way. also Sean don't liek to get in trouble for no reason and i also don't liek to get in trouble for any reason.

i am least like Scott because i am not a scary cat like Scott because i act the same way in any kind of situation, no matter if it's a teacher or a student i talk to them being good because i don't like to misbehave with my elders or my peers.

  17. I think that me and David come to differ when it comes to self-control. I meam, it seems so easy for David to be upset. He seems to be very short tempered. I think it is very easy to get on David's bad side. He can just snap at you at any moment.

Also, David has these mood swings. One minute hes being nice and oking around with everyone, and the next minute hes a monster waiting to attack someone.

    1. What would your emotions be when your stuck or trapped in a wheel chair for the rest of your life?

My dreams would be instantly shattered because people would automatically think you are not capable of things like if you apply for a job. Have you seen anyone in a wheel chair work at the bank the mall etc?

How do you think wheel chaired people earn for a living? What jobs would accept them?

      Delete
    2. They have a harsher depression in life than what most teenagers have in life. The fact whether they will get accepted in jobs and by other person is a difficult choice. And here I am expressing how sad it is for people who are disabled this way. That is something that David would be disturbed by since he doesn't wan to be treated this way.

      Delete
  18. I think i am most like mrmcully at this point because if i didnt read thisbook, just like he judged david by his wheel chair i would have done the same thing i would have thought that sean was the one who started the fight.i would have thought that how could a kid in a wheelchair start a fight when he is handicap.I would also give sean the same punishment so that sean could prove himself guilty and admit that he was the one who started the fight when it was actually david.
i am least likely like scott because i would not skip class the way he did and scott basically broke almost all the schools rules.i would never take the risk of skipping class.

    1. Now since you are in grade 8 do you think or do you feel more free or do you believe you have more freedom. But with great freedom comes great responsibility!

    2. In general, no one would ever take time to think of the situation is such a twisted way from the angle of situation Mccully was at. Is there anything else that is more in complex that can be in common between you two?

      Delete
  19. I think i'm least like Scott. He's reckless and thinks that since he's in grade 8, he's capable of doing anything. He started smoking, which is one thing i'm NEVER going to do. He also ditches class and doesn't really care about what he does. Unlike myself, i try doing the best i could at anything. And lastely he gets into fights alot. I might get into a fight if someone really gets me mad. But not everyday.

    1. well you got to think in david side he is fighting because he does not want to be different from the others but he feels like it when people treats him like no one which is why he fights

      Delete
    2. Scott is in such a harsh type. I don't even have the guts to disrespect a teacher !

      Delete

  20. I think that I am like Mr.McCully, because when Sean got into a fight with David (the wheelchair kid) Mr.McCully came and he stopped the fight, and felt sorry for David. This is something that I would do. I would feel sorry for David because he was in the wheelchair and he was the one that was on the ground still fighting. As well, when Sean was at the VP office, the VP automatically thought that Sean was the one who started to fight, because who would want to fight with a kid in the wheelchair. So, the VP told Sean to be David’s "host" for a while. I would have also thought the same way and have done the same thing. I would have put Sean at the point where he would have to admit that he is guilty, and make him pay for what he has done either it be a detention or getting expelled.
I am least like Sean's friend Scott, because Scott skipped one of his classes to have an early lunch with his friend Sean. But, in the lunch room when Mr.McCully arrived he sneaked under the tables and made his way out of the lunch room, so that he would not get in trouble. I would have not skip classes just to have an early lunch. Therefore I am least like Scott.

    3. Thinking outside the novel are you really not like Scott, wouldn`t you want to fit in like the cool kids(question mark)

      Delete
    4. The cool kids can be trouble at times. Tushar, when you said 'cool kids' did you mean the ones that are like Scott packed up with cigarettes and beer or just normal one who gets into slight trouble?

      Delete
    5. Both, because of the choice both are basically the same but people with drugs resemble recklessness.

      Delete
  21. I think I am more similar to Sean because both of us are aware of what we do this year. Since both of us been through a lot of trouble in grade 7 we want to make our grade 8 year unforgettable, in order to do that I will have to succeed in anything I do such as join school teams. Another we are alike is that we have the same habits. I don’t just J-Walk I actually stop while my friends run and leave their lives in danger. So in conclusion Sean and I are kind of equivalent (alike).

    1. Yeah, I think alot of people are like Sean trying to get to high school with a good record. I mean, the teachers we have now, are the teachers who are the ones we are depending on to succeed to our choice of high school. Mr. Mcully should make a big influence on Sean's record and high school acceptance.

I think I am Sean because I dont want to have any fights this year and just start off with a fresh year and also I want to stay out of trouble I think I am not Mr.McCully because I would have still gave David a punishment even no he is in a wheelchair because David started the fight and he was in it too

    1. But in the novel the VP doesnt know who started it.

    2. Maybe explain a little more. Wasn't their a discussion on how, as a human in life, we would be bias? I mean, Mccully didn't know and if we were to pop out in a situation like this, the scene would make it seem that Sean is at fault.

  23. The character i am least like is scott. i do not discourage my friends to not get in trouble, so scott tries to be cool by doing stuff which is not allowed in school such as drinking beer and smoking. If my friends want to become one of the most nicest student in my school i would never tell them not to do that. on top of that i will tell them thats a good idea and join along with them. to be honest in some reasons i am kind of like him. I sometimes do get violent when some one pisses me off. I don't do illegal stuff such as smoke or drink beer because i want my health and body to stay pure. so I am least like scott for many reasons. ps. do you think sean is taking the right path by following scott and his friends drink beer?

  24. I'm least like Mr.Mcully because I'm not as strict as him. His personality is nothing compared to mine. Not that I'm an easy-going person, but it's just the way about he acts and speaks that’s different. There’s not much I can say, because all the other characters are quite similar to me. It's just Mcully that’s at the bottom of the list. I guess it's perhaps because of the age. But that’s how I feel when it comes to the character that’s least like me.

    1. I understand what you mean. He isn't like me either. How about the fact that we would do the same things as him. We think that this is just a story, but how about in real life? Remember the time our class discussed about how we would punish Sean and not David from the scene we had seen? In the inside, Mr. Mcully way of thinking is like our too. Am I wrong?

    2. Does age really impact the way you think(question mark). This post reminds me of the life lesson we had last year.

      Delete
    3. I really don't think age should make that much of a difference in this situation. In other situations, it might matter. I mean do to the characteristics and understandings of each person in each age. Elderly people have this calm sensation or cranky feeling. Who knows what else they think about? All I can tell is that they might think about the next generation, life, and death. That isn't much similar to us while we think about the present. Kids think endlessly about fun. Adults have a different perspective due to being longer and wiser on earth.

    1. Sean is like you from the common facts and personalities. Do you think you guys may have similar feelings since, this book is like real life?

    2. Mr Cheney read a bit more today and Sean wants to make everything "perfect" when David comes, and thats like me I want to make everything "perfect", I guess thats a feeling.

    3. As a package with the feeling of 'perfect' do you get nervous too? I mean Sean was over dramatic as it seemed to his parents. He seemed to very worried and trying to keep everyone calm while he was the one going crazy. Did that ever happen to you?

  26. Well, from what I have learned as a reader from the text, I understand how all the characters work and their personalities. From this, I believe that I am Sean from the story. This is because, I have had problem like him with friends. At first, I make a friend. I stick around with them for a while. Suddenly they change and reveal their true desires. This creates a conflict and a feeling of uncomfortable friendship. Like me, Sean had hung out with Scott and suddenly he changes. Scott shows what he truly wants and likes. Out of no where, a feeling creeps out making you uncomfortable and lonely. As if you don;t want to hang out with them anymore. For some reason they will keep sticking to you and you fear them bringing only trouble to you. It's like making a big mistake in the begging of letting them be your 'friends'. Out of no where, they think that they are better than you. They leave you at lunch and makes you feel bad. They try acting cool while they look lame and mean. It's like regret forming in your heart. No longer at that point can you talk to that person in a friendly way. It's a situation where you don't know which point your friendship is at. The regret gets strong enough to hope it collapses the so called "friendship". That 'friend' of mine is now a trouble maker and always doing bad walking with a mood on. Like Scott, she brings the bad out of me. I turned out to be Sean while that person was Scott.

  27. I think that I am least like Scott. I can't make my way to do something bad. Later on I feel horribly guilty. It's like sight effects of activities I have done. I don't have the guts to disobey elders like teachers. I don't have the guts to do any of this. I have a hard time slipping a lie. Anyway, I cannot possibly find any way to show the differ in my feelings with Scott. I have no idea what is going on in Scott's mind! But, I can tell that I have more of complex feelings then what Scott may be thinking of.

    1. do you think that scott acting so tough and taking cigarettes is a byproduct of his parents

    2. Maybe so, people's outside behavior depends on what they learn from the inside which is home. On the other hand, I remember Mr.Cheney reading to us about how Scott said that his parents tell him that Sean is a bad influence. Sean had replied back in surprise and said"What?!" That sentence kind of showed that the minority level that Sean causes trouble bother his parents. Which means they care and they want the good for their child. Also, it mentioned that he got his beer from a few friend " Nick and Gavin" so maybe that was where he got supply of cigarettes too.

    3. Scotts parents think that Sean is a bad influence to his son. Sean is an innocent guy and if they expect more from Sean then that means they havent seen the real Scott with tongue pierce ect. Thus Scott is hiding this from his parents so, if he is hiding this behaviour from his parents, they must not be comfortable with what Scott is doing.

In conclusion, this behaviour from Scott is not a byproduct of his parents.

  28. I think i'm like McCulley because, like him, I like to think I'm in charge. I like to think that I have power over all my friends when really I don't. Also I always want to be right about something. If i'm wrong then I try to make others convince i'm right. Also I don't like people that act in a way that I don't like. Also if i'm mad, i'd yell at you and try to make sure you can't get a word in.

I think I'm least like Scott. I feel like I don't need to explain but I would never take huge risks like he does with smoking and drinking. Also I never get in trouble as frequently as him. Also I don't try to act cool like I'm the king of the world.

  29. The Character i liked the most is David because i think he is someone that i can relate to i think all of us can relate to because he has two sides of himself one kind and nice side and another anger side. And i think i am like him at times i can be really nice but then it gets to a moment when i cant handle it anymore. Its always about trying to be different and he is just hanging out with grade 8 he is also hanging out with grade 7's and i do the same sometimes people always say why are you with them, i dont find anything wrong with that

  30. Sorry for being SO LATE.
As to the question, I think that I'm most like Sean in certain ways, not as in knowledge I would mean as in normal characteristics. At one point I can be all nice cool in a chalant type of way. I mostly don't care about the condition they are in before the incident. Most I would care about the aftermath, but not previously when it happens. Like Sean might say "go with the flow".Which is exactly what I do .

I think I am least like the trio Scott,Nick, and Gavin.
I sure like to blend in but wouldn't have gone to an extent like Scott,Nick, and Gavin bringing beer, smoking.
Though in the real world it wouldn't be so easy, those "cool" words that go in a pattern like "don't smoke",don't really effect you in the real world. You could say that it might make you think twice. To the debate about peer pressure, the debate on it would be fairly simple if you have not yet studied about it. We make friends because we want to fit in,if not you would be the joke of the district. To be fair, EVERYBODY wants that, if I`m not wrong.Yet I don`t think so highly of myself, so I wouldn`t just make the choice of peer pressure because I know it will impact the way I see things.

I have a much mixed opinion, the one that would theoretically not be me can be me.Both of them can, this is probably because I don`t know how the world around me works yet.

  31. Almost all of us are saying Scott is the least likely but to my analogy almost everybody like to be in the group, not be left out. Like a loner as you people say.You people would be like a loner if you haven`t wanted to fit in with the crowd, high-school for example is the time when you can start smoking but only because you want to be part of the group. To my prediction based on my research you would be Scott and the most likely as your choice.

  32. The character I'm most like is Sean. I don't like to make a fight, but when they push it to the limit I get angry. I have a tendency like if i go with the wrong people i become bad but when i go with good people i become nicer. I do like to make changes if i'm not a good kid, i do like to change cause i think change is a good thing well for me it is. And i am a bit like David cause i don't like people thinking i have a problem and i probably would do the same if they treated me like that.

I think im not like Scott because im not bad or anything. I hate smoking and drinking and we have nothing alike.

  33. I think I am most like David because we are both rebelish and we have both had crippling accidents. Also, it seems to me that we both are good with most teachers
